Zafferano has a gorgeous panaromic city view of Marina Waterfront and it’s one of the ideal restaurants to watch F1 race. I still remember my last visit was 2 years ago during F1 race. The restaurant located at Level 43 of Ocean Financial Centre offers a contemporary Italian cuisine with warm and attentive service while diners are able to enjoy their dinner with sceneries of dusk.
Zafferano has recently introduces a romantic dining experience with Sunset Dining by Chef Marco Guccio. The special three-course menu of contemporary Italian classics is priced at S$55.00++ per person and available from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. So, what do they offer in Sunset Dining menu?
COMPLIMENTARY HOMEMADE BREAD
We started off with the complimentary homemade bread. The bread was served warm and soft. And of course I dipped it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar while waiting for the first course to serve.
STARTER (A choice of 2 dishes)
TROTA RAPANELLI MELOGRANO UOVA DI QUAGLIA CAVIALE
Marinated trout cured in house served with red radish, pomegranate, quail egg and caviar. It was beautifully plated with a refreshing taste for a start.
ARAGOSTELLA ARANCIA ANETOBABY
Baby lobster bisque was absolutely umami. The lobster was put in the oven to roast for approximately 1 hour before cooking it with tomato sauce for double reduction. This is how delicate the chef is in preparing such a wonderful dish for diners.
MAINS ( A Choice of 2 dishes)
The pasta is made in house and it is from Southern Italy where Chef Marco came from. This pasta is inspired by Chef Marco’s grandma and it is actually a family recipe that he shares with diners. The cavatelli was served in white wine sauce along with prawns, cod fish, octopus and crab meat. It has a homely feel dish and we also tried another way of eating. We added a bit more of olive oil onto the paste that gives an extra fruitiness in it.
MANZO SEDANO RAPA CARCIOFI
This is the beef tagliata which is served with celery root puree, sautéed artichokes and veal jus. The beef was tender and juicy and the celery root puree was smooth and creamy. The combination was just right.
DESSERTS (A choice of 2 dishes)
CARAMELLO FRUTTO DELLA PASSIONE LAMPONE
And the last course is dessert. Creamy caramel dome served with passion fruit jelly, raspberry coulis, dark chocolate tuille and chocolate crumble. One word to describe which is delicious. It tasted as good as the presentation.
You can opt for fresh made gelato sorbet which a choice of three flavours- strawberry, peach and lemon. And most importantly, there are made in-house. We took quite sometime for the photo but surprisingly it does not melt as fast as I thought it will be. We had lemon and strawberry sorbet that night. Some may find the lemon too acidity but it was just nice for me. This is ideal to cleanse the palate for the sweet night.
If you are planning to enjoy this beautiful 3-course menu, do call in for reservation. Also, I personally feel that it is value for money with the foods, services and gorgeous view from evening till the sky turns dark and the building lights are on. I trust that you and your dining partner will enjoy this romantic moment together.
