Can’t get enough of cheese? You can get it from District 10 Bar & Restaurant at UE Square starting from 19 September to 31 October 2016. District 10 introduces a Cheese Wheel Menu where dishes are finished tableside in a wheel of Grana Padano Cheese. How cool is that? This reminds me of my dining experience at Shashlik sometime back with the similar concept having food presentation on the trolley in front of you.
The giant wheel of cheese , a roughly 18-month-aged Grana Padano used to prepare pasta is common in Italy and District 10 is one of the first to introduce the concept in Singapore.
I was excited to try them out and here are some of the dishes I tried from the Cheese Wheel Menu the other day.
Caesar Salad S$19.00++
The salad served with District 10 classic dressing, crouton and smoked chicken.
Homemade Tagliatelle with Alba Black Hair Truffle S$36.00++
The tagliatelle was cooked in the kitchen before having then placed into the cheese wheel. Then, the server scrapes up the cheese while tossing the pasta and finishes with the truffle. Indeed a visual and aromatic feast literary just in front of us.
Spaghetti Alla Carbonara S$24.00++
Exactly the same method but the difference is that they placed the egg yolk on top of the spaghetti before tossing it together with the cheese. Oh my god! This is my favourite dish that night. It was thick, creamy and cheesy enough which the rest just nod their head and keep eating.
Linguine served with cherry tomato, basil and rosemary chicken tossed in a light saffron sauce. If only the saffron taste was not overpowering the cheese, it could be better.
First time trying risotto prepared on the cheese wheel and served with tiger prawns and basil pesto.
We ended our meal with Traditional Italian Tiramisu S$14.00++ after a satisfying cheesy meal.
