Are you a fan of tendon? Don Meijin located within Ramen Champion at Bugis+ is the latest addition to the tendon family. The stall offers the similar tendon just like Tendon Kohaku, Ginza Tendon Itsuki and Tensho Japanese Speciality Tendon House by MOF. The difference is that they included a local twist of spicy chilli crab sauce into the tendon.
Spicy Chili Crab Tendon- S$14.80
Don Meijin serves Tendon with spicy chilli crab sauce over the ingredients. The tendon bowl includes prawn, asparagus, eggplant, pumpkin, salmon and vegetable fritter. It is rather interesting to have local twist flavour in it but it could be even better if the taste is stronger.
Signature Tendon – S$13.80
The signature tendon comes with the standard fried ingredients drizzled with savoury Japanese sauce. What makes this bowl taste even better is to top up additional S$2.00 for the ochazuke set. Diners can add the rice crisps and wasabi based on individual preferences to the remaining rice before pouring the light flavour dashi broth. It is like having porridge to cleanse off the greasiness that you just ate earlier on.
Mille Feuille Katsu Don – S$12.80
We were introduced to this bowl of goodness where 14 layers of thinly sliced and marinated pork loin coated with breadcrumbs served with the eggs and onions. The golden brown crisp katsu don tasted flavourful, tender and juicy. It is indeed a comfy and filling bowl of katsu don.
Pork Shogayaki Don- S$12.80
Not that appealing at the first sight but the pork slices marinated with spicy ginger, soy sauce and sweet mirin tasted delicious with the Japanese rice.
