D.O.P Mozzarella Bar & Restaurant located Robertson Quay was opened in July 2016 by Luca Lannone. The restaurant serves authentic Italian cuisine from southern Italian region of Campania. It is actually Luca’s hometown. I visited the restaurant last week courtesy of ChopeSG with a friend of mine. It gives a homely-feel restaurant which is ideal for family gatherings or even couple date.
D.O.P Mozzarella Bar & Restaurant specializes on mozzarella and burrata cheese dishes. So, here go the dishes I tried that night:
APPETIZERS
Mozzarella Ball
One of the signature dishes here. Deep-fried crispy mozzarella ball stuffed with parma ham and sun-dried tomato and basil. The cheese melts as you cut it into half. Best pick to kick start the meal.
MAINS
Homemade Scialatielli with cacao cheese and truffle pesto served in seasoned buffalo cheese.
This is rather interesting because it is my first time trying pasta served in edible cheese bowl. The pasta texture is thick and short which resembles a shorter version of linguini. If you are a cheese lover, this is your pick when you are here in DOP.
Homemade Piadina
Folded Italian homemade flatbread with parma and stracciatella cheese. Simple, classic and tasted awesome.
DESSERT
Mama Teresa lemon Cake
We were told that this lemon cake is a recipe from the mother of the chef. It is made from scratch by the chef.My friend and I love it and it is one of the best crumbly lemon cake I had. It was warm and moist in texture. It goes well with the mascarpone and it would be good with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream too!
The food and wines served here are quite affordable. I would foresee myself returning with friends to check out other dishes without burning a hole in my pocket. D.O.P Mozzarella also has a mini corner where they sell retail items imported from Italy. So you know where to get your favourite Italian dry stocks.
