My friends and I celebrate birthdays together every year.It has been a tradition for the past 7 years. So for May birthday celebration, we decided to check out Gaia Korean Restaurant at Holland Village. Since the birthday girl wants to have the celebration around Holland village area, we decided to have korean cuisine for dinner. This authentic Korean restaurant is fronted by Chef Chun, author of the book “ Step by Step: Cooking Classic Korea.” ( I got this information through google search).
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas with limited seats. We settled down inside the restaurant.
There are 5 of us and here are the foods that we ordered:
Combination Platter S$35.00+ per pax
We ordered for 2 pax portions. The combination platter includes short rib meat, pork belly and marinated chicken. We enjoyed the marinated meats. A taste of savoury and sweetness , which goes pretty well with the dipping sesame oil or other sauce. I always add in a sliver of garlic in before wrapping it with lettuce and pop into my mouth.
Budae Jjigae S$48.00+
The spicy hotpot served with mixed sausages, ham, cheese, ramen and vegetables. This is so hearty and comforting dish. It was raining and this is perfect for that night. It was my friends’ first time trying it and they loved it. We requested for additional ramen – S$3.00.
Total bill was S$133.10 inclusive of 10% service charge. The drinks are complimentary unless you order from the menu. The restaurant has a comfortable setting and we left without overbearing oily smell from all the grilling/ bbq. That’s the best part of all, don’t you think so?
