Street 50 Restaurant & Bar located at Bay Hotel Singapore offers an affordable Christmas feast buffet pricing for this festive season. The Restaurant is located within a walking distance from Harbourfront MRT station and they are serving international buffet menus. So, fret not to burn holes on your pocket when you are feasting with a group of friends or family. Here are some of the highlights from the buffet menu we tried the other day:-

Salmon Carpaccio with Coriander & Pinenut VinaigretteStreet 50 Restaurant & Bar-Bay hotel

If you are a salmon lover, you can give a try on this salmon carpaccio mixed with the spices to enhance the flavour of the fish.

Crab cakes with smoked oyster combination were rather interesting concept.

Black Pepper Alaskan Crab Claw with Gingko NutsStreet 50 Restaurant & Bar-Bay hotel-3Usually we have black pepper Sri Lanka crabs but in Street 50, they have the black pepper Alaskan crab claw. The uniqueness of this dish is that it is prepared with gingko nuts. I enjoyed the sweetness from the crab meats with strong black peppery taste of this dish but somehow rather the gingko nuts has its stand alone taste.

The bay scallop was beautifully plated on the shell with the rich tomato essence spread onto of it. Sea salts are scattered around the plating for diners to sprinkle bits on to the scallop to enhance the flavour. I find the tomato essence was too overpowering and cover up the sweetness of the scallop.

Seafood paella was generously served on the table. The seafood includes mussels, scallops and prawns are the usual ones in the paella ingredients. It would be better if the paella taste stronger.

Turkey is the signature dish for Christmas season. Street 50 also serves turkey breast with 2 sauce choices; cucumber pesto and pineapple sauce. I find the turkey breast meat was dry and the sauces do not go well with the meat.

Lastly, we have the dessert to end the tasting session. The crepe is a French dessert using sauce of caramelized sugar and butter, mandarin orange on top. You can taste the sweetness of the caramelized sugar with the crepe and bits of the citrus fruit.
