[SG EVENT] CHINGAY 2016- LIGHTS OF LEGACY, BRIGHTER SINGAPORE
Chingay is the largest street performance and float parade that happens in Singapore every year. And Chingay 2016 is happening on 19 and 20 February at F1 Pit Building.I was there on Friday (19 February) with my friend. It was raining cats and dogs and I was almost wet. It was an experience watching Chingay under the rain. Thankfully, the organizer has arranged ponchos for audience. So, I am saved from drenched but my jeans and shoes are all wet though.
Sitting under the rain with my right hand holding umbrella and left hand holding my iphone to capture photos was quite an experience. If only I did not carry any bags and taking photos for memory sake, I would just enjoyed the rain with my ponchos. But I still have the habit to capture some photos even though grainy for memory sake.
The official theme for Chingay Parade 2016 is “Lights of Legacy, Brighter Singapore”. The parade is the brightest ever with the lights illuminated throughout the show. It is inspired by the legacy of Founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew and the values embodied by Pioneers such as Racial Harmony, Social Cohesion, Caring Community, Resilience as a Nation, Can-Do Singapore Spirit and Uphold high moral values.
Some of the snippets had taken using my iphone under the rain. So pardon on the sharpness and grainy effect.
And here’s the short video I took using my iphone during the parade for your viewing pleasure 🙂

Also, kudos to the performers and organizers that performed and coordinating under the rain to make the event successful.
The parade ended with spectacular fireworks show under the rain.
The rain also stopped after the parade is over. Nevertheless, like what Singapore Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsieh Long said “It was a dazzling extravaganza at last night’s #Chingay2016. Pity about the rain, but hope that 年年有雨 will bring us 年年有余”.
