[SG FOOD EVENTS] SINGAPORE RESTAURANT MONTH 2016- A HEALTHIER DINING THIS SINGAPORE FOOD FESTIVAL

Singapore Restaurant Month (SRM) is back this year starting from 1 to 31 July 2016. In collaboration with the Health Promotion Board (HPB) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) aims to encourage both industry partners and public to appreciate the joys of healthier dining through promotion dishes that are lower in calories and/or have higher wholegrain content this year. This is to aligned with Health Promotion Board’s campaign to “Eat Healthy. Get More from Life’.

Singapore Restaurant Week
There are a total of 45 restaurant brands participating this year. In order to qualify as an SRM dish, each creation has to contain either 500 calories or less and/or has to be made up of least 8% wholegrains. And there are 22 restaurants NEW to Singapore Restaurant Month.

Enough said. Here are the participating restaurants and the dishes with calories stated in the fact sheets. So, you can start planning which restaurants to check it out.

So, in conjunction of this campaign, a group of us was invited for a food trail sometime back. We visited 4 participating restaurant within the night and here are the restaurants that we went.

First Stop: One UNA @ Rochester Park
We tried their submission dish ; Coca De Higos Y Foie Con Vermouth S$26.00++

Foie Gras and grilled figs served on top of the crisp Spanish flatbread.The foie gras were pan seared and blends in perfectly with the flatbread and the figs to enhance the flavour of the dish.

Second Stop: Earle Swensen @ Vivo City
We had Baked Hoisin Cod Fish S$35.90++ .

The dish was definitely an eye feast for everyone. The thick cod fish was served with potato balls and sautéed mushrooms. It was indeed a savoury dish.

Third Stop: Si Dou Chuan Restaurant @ Top of UOB Plaza
Si Dou Chuan Restaurant- Restaurant Month 2016
Si Dou Chuan Restaurant is known with its Sichuan-inspired cuisines and they are also participating in Restaurant Month this year. Their submission dish is the Double-boiled White Fungus in Pear Vessel S$15.0++.

The soup was served with dry ice and made a grand entrance to our table. The soup broth was light and yet flavourful.

Last Stop: Soup Soup Union @ Raffles City Shopping Mall
Lastly, we have the Grill Knife’s Grilled Salmon with Cauliflower Rice S$15.80++ .On top of the said ingredients, there are quinoa, edamame, assorted nuts and cranberries included in the cauliflower rice. Thus, this is definitely a filling meal inclusive with a slab of grilled salmon.
