[SG EVENT] “A NIGHT AT VARADERO “ BY BOB’S BAR ICONIC CUBAN FIESTA | CAPELLA SINGAPORE
Reminiscing that wonderful night I had at the revamp Bob’s Bar where everyone gather with friends and family for “ A Night at Varadero”. It was a fiesta with scrumptious Cuban delicacies and rum-based cocktail offerings curated by award winning Executive Chef David Senia of Capella Singapore on that beautiful Saturday night (23 July 2016).

The Cuban Fiesta for this one-night-only revelry offers an authentic slice of Cuba including the bar’s first-ever Salsa dance session, its signature Havana barbeque station, pop-up Mojito and Rum Bars, a special Rum Appreciation Masterclass, as well as live music all the way into the night.
So, here are snippets of the moments I took during that night:
FIRST SALSA DANCE SESSION
Oh! I had my first ever Salsa dance session here at Capella and it was pretty fun. Thanks to Melissa for persuading me to join in the fun. The amazing squad dancers from Salsa Cubana Singapore were invited to lead on the dance floor sharing the Carribean dance steps to the public. Everyone was having fun and enjoying the moment as the music started to play.
BOB’S VIBES
Bob’s Bar brings to life the sounds and sights of the famed Cuban nightlife with its new weekend entertainment line-up, Bob’s Vibes. Latin house music is available on Saturdays from 5pm onwards while families and friends can enjoy live music with a twist of local beats performed by the three-piece instrumental band on Sundays 3pm to 6.30pm.
RUM-BASED COCKTAILS
Bob’s Bar has also refreshed cocktail menu introducing 15 enticing signature rum-based cocktails. We tried the Mojito and Banana Daiquiri that night. The cocktails were quite refreshing and perk the taste buds with its minty notes. Too bad it was late night and my camera cannot capture any nice photo of the cocktails.
CUBAN DELICACIES
We were delighted with the specialities including toasted sandwich Panini Cubano S$25.00 made with gourmet ham, pulled pork, cheese, prickles and mustard, Cuban Sliders S$25.00 aka the mini burger and House-marinated Barbecue Satay meats of wagyu beef, chicken and lamb served on an individual mini charcoal grill. Each meat is priced differently ( Wagyu – S$16.00 per stick/ Chicken S$5.00 per stick/ Lamb S$8.00 per stick). We also indulged with the Bob’s Churros S$14.00 dipped with warm chocolate sauce and bananitos S$18.00 – two hot crispy bananas served with coconut ice-cream. And the favourite part was the Havana platter for two – S$50.00. The platter includes beef short ribs, mini lamb ribs, chicken skewer, pork jowl, bbq prawn.
RUM APPRECIATION MASTERCLASS
We also attended the Rum Appreciation Masterclass at Bob’s Bar in partnership with Proof & Company. It was an eye opener for me and this class help to educate the guests in terms of the rum knowledge, flavour profiles and also the production process. Each participant is given 4 choices out of 30 different types of rum to try. The four types include Diplomatico Blanco, Navegante Rum, Plantation Jamaica 2001 Single Island Rum and Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. Each flavour has their acquired taste and it was an experience for me.
It was a memorable night spent at Capella Singapore and feeling great to be back again. I wish to travel back to that night so that I can immerse into the music rhythm and laze on the big cosy seats and arresting views of lush greenery.
