[SG EATS] The Bird Southern Table And Bar Restaurant “ Yardbird” At Marina Bay Sands (MBS)
My first taste of “The Bird” or “Yardbird” was on last year’s Epicurean Market. One year later I am here in their first outlet in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore checking out the some of the dishes from the menu. The Bird Southern Table & Bar is under Restaurateur John Kunkel’s award-winning restaurant group. The have a sophisticated space with rustic charm and using white brick walls on their interior décor. We were seated at level 2 facing the walk path of Marina Bay Sands. Diners can choose to dine outdoor as well. Moving on are the dishes we tried over the weekend.
Deviled Eggs
Southern-style basic deviled eggs with the combination of dill, chive and smoked trout roe in it.. The swirled finished look tasted creamier and tangier in flavour partly because of the filling. If you love eggs, go for it.
Fried Green Tomato BLT
This is a crowd pleaser that day. House smoked pork belly with pimento cheese, smoky tomato jam, frisee, and lemon vinaigrette dressing. This is perfect for an appetizer before the main course. The smoked pork belly has lesser fats and tender meat texture. You can taste each elements of the ingredients in it especially the smoky tomato jam.
Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles
The star of the meal is this Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles which presented just like the name of the dish. We pour the bourbon maple syrup on to the Vermont sharp cheddar cheese waffles before we start to feast. This is best to share with 2-3 people. The chicken meat is tender and crispy on the outer side and the juicy chilled spiced watermelon cubes balance it off. If you are a Korean fried chicken lover with strong flavours, this might not be your cup of tea.
Macaroni & Cheese
Pasta prepared using five artisanal cheeses, and crispy herb crust.
Butter Lettuce & Grilled Mango Salad
The salad comprises the char-grilled Mango, crunchy smoked pecans, red onion, tomato, and benne seed vinaigrette dressing. I prefer the dressing to be stronger in flavour though.
Café Crème Brulee
Creme Brulee served with Almond orange biscotti and sprinkled with orange gremolata
Banana Pudding
Rum soaked banana cake with chantilly cream, fresh bananas, and vanilla wafers. One of the best banana puddings I had tried so far. I can have it all by myself and it is not overpowering.
I wouldn’t mind coming back for the banana pudding to be honest. Although their signature chicken waffles are good, I think I can have it at other fast-food restaurants for similar ones. Don’t get me wrong here. The chicken tasted good but I think with the price offer, people tend to compare. If you are coming down to give this a try, come in a group of 3 to 4 for sharing.
