[KOREA TRAVEL TIPS] How to Claim Tax Refunds At Incheon International Airport | Seoul
My last visit to Seoul was 4 years ago and their tax refunds system has changed since then. So I decided to share my latest experience on how to claim tax refunds at Incheon International Airport. Hope you guys will find it useful when you travel to Seoul!
Here are the steps to secure the claims:
Eligibility
When you purchase more than 30,000 KRW (including tax) at any Tax Refund Participating stores.
Step 1
Request for Tax Refund when you make payment at the participating stores. You will be given a receipt and tax refund slip. The cashier will usually ask to present passport for verification.
Step 2
Upon arriving the airport, gather all the receipts and tax refund slips. Head over to the Tax Refund kiosk counter. There will be staffs standing there to assist on the endorsement. Once it is done, they will advise you which gate to complete the tax refund process.
Step 3
Once you clear the immigration customs, proceed to the Refund counter at the specific gate as advised by the staff. It is usually either Gate 27 or Gate 28. There will be signage showing the Global Blue ( blue logo).
Proceed to Gate 28 to receive cash Refund through the kiosk machine. All you need is to pass your receipts and tax refund slips to the staff and they will do the work.
And Tadah…. money received on the spot!
I find the new system is so much convenient and save time too! I still remember I need to reach airport 4 hours earlier so that I can queue for the cash refund due to overwhelming of people claiming tax refund. This new system is so much easier and user-friendly too. There are staffs assisting on the spot too.
