[BKK EATS] Jok Prince (โจ๊กปรินซ์ บางรัก) Bang Rak, Bangkok- The Porridge Awarded Bib Gourmand by Michelin Guide
Jok Prince awarded Bib Gourmand by Michelin Guide Bangkok is one of the breakfast places to go for locals. The eatery is known for its congee/ rice porridge with smokey flavour. They used to locate in the alley leading to Prince Theatre and since relocated to Charoenkrung Road.
It was a rainy Monday morning and no sight of grab services. So, we decided to take the train instead. The nearest train station is Saphan Taksin and we walked for 400m to reach the destination.
Here is the current menu with the prices.
The congee comes with different variations such as pork, offals, egg, century egg, double egg or more. You can choose your own preference.
We ordered 2 bowls with different variation. Pork Congee and Pork Congee with offals, century egg and egg to try. The highlight is the congee. It was well-boiled, cooked with wok hei /smokey flavour. Also, worth mentioning is the homemade minced pork balls. The balls are soft and fatty. If you like offals, you can ad-ons but I think it is just decent only. The highlight is still the congee. The congee is topped with fresh strips of ginger, spring onion and fresh coriander. You can also opt to add-on your soy sauce, chilli vinegar on the table. We enjoyed the way it is so nothing extra sauce added into it.
You can also add the Chinese doughnut / you tiao (pa thong ko) to dip it with the porridge to enjoy.
I personally think it is worth a trip down and you can plan your itinerary along the train stations within the day.
Note: Payment is by CASH only.
