We were searching for 2D1N stay in Kyoto for our recent trip to Kyoto and finally decided on 22 Pieces. 22 Pieces hotel is in Minami Ward, a neighbourhood in Kyoto, Japan. The hotel is approximately 4 minutes’ walk from Kyoto station.22 Pieces is a 22-room inn that stands quietly in a quiet residential area. A studio-type room with an area of ​​34 to 36 m2 and a kitchen has 3 single beds and 1 sofa bed.
It is available for 2 to 4 people. We booked via here instead of their official website.

GETTING HERE

5 minutes’ walk from Kyoto Station.

HOTEL LOCATION
It is near to metro station and notable landmarks like Kyoto Tower and Fushimi Inari Shrine and a short bus or train ride to Kawaramachi. We find it easily accessible to various location with bus or train rides within a walking distance. There are convenience store and local restaurants around the hood.

HOTEL CHECK-IN AND FACILITIES
There are special check-in instructions stated in the booking website. The front desk is open daily from 8:00AM to midnight. Thus, guests must contact the property in advance for check-in instructions so that the front desk staff will be there to greet your arrival. They maybe not at the front desk all the time. So if you are planning to arrive after midnight, please contact the property in advance using the information on the booking confirmation. No room key is provided as guest will be given the room number and password to access the room. It is hassle-free and so cool!

NOTE:A city tax is collected at the property upon check-in. We paid JPY1,200 for 3 of us, based on 2D1N room rate stay.


Guest can also enjoy perks such as the bike rental, luggage storage and rent items from the front desk. The unique feature of this hotel is that guests can rent for free with the display items at the front desk corner during their stay. Items such as coffee mill, coffee maker, galaxy light projector, DVD player,board games and many more. If you are planning to explore the city via bike, you can rent it from the hotel.

ROOM FEATURES


22 Pieces has only 22 rooms. The room consists with 2 categories, which is Standard room and Studio Room. Under Standard room category, there are different types of rooms with or without terrace or garden view while Studio room is with terrace or living area or dining table. We booked Studio with dining table that caters for 3 persons.
The non-smoking room size is 36 m²/388 ft² . We loved the space of the studio room that comes with 3 single beds.



The shower and bathtub come with standard toiletries and Dyson hair dryer. We were quite impressed that uses Dyson brand here.


Also, there is a kitchenette corner with full kitchenware already for cooking. Mini refrigerator, safety box and complimentary bottled waters are included. We were surprised to see Balmuda toaster are available in the room too. Iron board and iron will be provided upon request though.

And check out the dining table in the middle of the studio room. We bought our takeaway food back to hotel and sat at the dining table to enjoy our food while watching the TV. The feeling was great!
Not forgetting the free Wi-Fi is included but we think the wi-fi service at night seems lagging though. There is also streaming service like Netflix.

Note:There will only be housekeeping service if guests stay more than 3 days. Since we stayed for 2nights, we are unable to enjoy the housekeeping service.

The check-out process is very convenient. Guest just need to place the check-out tag outside the room door. It will consider as check-out. We wished that we could stay more nights, but the rooms here are hot in demand. Most of the days are fully booked and we are lucky enough to secure 2 nights here.

Although it is a small hotel, it is fully equipped with the facilities required. What we enjoyed the most is the space of the room. Japan hotel rooms’ space are generally small and we are glad that we made the right decision to choose here. We had 2 XL size luggage and 1 L size luggage. We can open our luggages at the same time and yet we still have space to move around. It is ideal for group or family travelers.

Note:They accept online reservations about six months in advance. So, do take note if you are planning to book here.
