[VIETNAM SAPA HOTEL REVIEW] HOTEL DE LA COUPOLE MGALLERY BY SOFITEL – LUXURY & INSTAGRAMMABLE HOTEL IN SAPA | VIETNAM

Hotel De La Coupole-MGallery Sapa, Vietnam is a newly-opened luxury resort in year 2018. This luxury hotel is a 5-star hotel designed by Bill Bensley and was described as ‘the king of exotic luxury resorts’ by Time Magazine. Hotel De La Coupole Sapa offers 249 rooms and is an upcoming favourite destination to go in Vietnam. My friends and I decided to venture to Sapa all because of this hotel. We compared the prices from different hotel bookings website and secure an affordable pricing for 3D2N here with an additional bed.
HOW TO GET TO SAPA
There is no direct flight to Sapa now but it will available soon by year 2021. So, here are ways to get you here from Hanoi, Vietnam.
BY LIMO TRANSFER ( HANOI- SAPA | SAPA-HANOI)
You can opt to hire a private car or van for your city transfer. We booked shared limo transfer with 9-seater for a 6 hours journey ride. It was comfortable ride back to Hanoi. The price was S$20.00 per pax. The package include a mineral water , a bread and also complimentary wifi. The limo transfer stops twice for toilet break and there is a complimentary tea/coffee voucher on the second toilet break. It is included in the package. You can also check the price for Sapa- Hanoi Private Car Transfer too.
The good thing is that it picks you up from your choice of pick-up and drop-off location and the down side is that the traffic is unpredictable.
BY BUS
We wanted to utilise our days in Sapa so we decided to try the overnight sleeper bus. We took a 10pm sleeper bus from Hanoi and reach Sapa around 6am the next day. The sleeper bus is quite adventurous and it is my first time taking it. It is quite comfortable and the bad thing is that it is free seating. If you are not comfortable to sleep upper deck, you need to make sure you get in the bus earlier to secure the down deck. The bus stopped once for a toilet break throughout the journey. We booked the shared bus transfer from Hanoi to Vietnam and it costs S$19.75 per pax upon booking. You can also book Hanoi to Sapa bus transfer from this website too.

BY TRAIN
Sapa Station-Vietnam
Most people travel to Sapa by train to experience the overnight train service journey. The train service will takes approximately 6.5hours to 9 hours and the price is more expensive as compared to shared bus or limo transfer. Thus, we decided to opt out. You can check out the train pricing and the schedule here.

The Hotel Location
The hotel is located right next to SAPA station. It is connected to the hotel. Superb convenient!

The Lobby
We went ‘Wow” as we stepped into the lobby where the interiors of Hotel De La Coupole is decorated with lush haute couture textures and the vibrant colours of the ethnic hill tribes. The huge chandeliers are hanging up high and old Indochina-style decorations with every single instagrammable or photo-taking spots.

We had a smooth check-in and the staffs are friendly. We arrived around 6.30am after an overnight journey to Sapa and we are not able to check-in first but we can still use the facilities at the swimming pool at Level 7 to fresh up.

The Room
We booked Deluxe King room painted in a jade green inspired by the hills and valleys of sapa. The room is decorated with stylish black and white art deco furniture and design elements inspired by Sapa’s hill tribes. There are also heritage culture elements where every corner of the room is commendable. Our balcony overlooks the Sapa city but there are options for panoramic views. We are travelling in a group of 3 so we requested for an extra bed with additional fee. We also told them that it was our friendship anniversary and they prepared a chocolate cake and this beautiful decoration on the bed. The team is very thoughtful and sweet!
The bathroom is awesome with oversized free-standing tubs situated in open plan marble bathrooms. There is a walk-in rainfall showers right next to it. Not forgetting the amenities are included in the package.
Other features include in-room mini bars, mineral waters, tea and coffee making facilities, safe box, TV and complimentary internet.

Hotel Facilities
The indoor, heated swimming pool Le Grand Bassin is a must-visit spot in the hotel. Located at Level 7 with a huge crystal chandeliers in the middle of the pool and ceiling composed of marble and mosaic. Truly majestic! And of course, in-house spa, Nuage is available for guests to go for rejuvenation packages. There is also fitness centre in the hotel, which I did not get a picture of it.

The hotel also offers huge ballroom and six fully-equipped meeting rooms and four board rooms for executive meetings.
Indulge in afternoon tea at Cacao Café located at Level 2 (same floor as the lobby) that offers delectable desserts and pastries.

For dining option, check out the Chic located at Level 10. The dining restaurant is also the place where they serve breakfast for the hotel guests. And the breakfast option has quite a wide selection from locals to international.

Also, check out the Absinthe bar for perfect cocktail or tapas where you can admire the stunning views of the mountains. We do not have time for this though.

There is also kids’ corner in pink-theme at Level 10. However, we only realized it on the last day when we check-out. Thus, there is no photo to share here.
Lastly, do not miss out the courtyard for photo-taking session and the link bridge located at Level 10. It is all over the instagram posts.

Hotel Stay Experience
It was a memorable luxury hotel experience here in Hotel De La Coupole. We wished we have more time in the hotel. There are many places in the hotel to explore for photo-taking. I guess the hotel will soon be flooded with instagrammers and people from all over the world with the majestic architecture. The staffs greeted ‘Xin Chao’ each time we walked past them.
The details and effort are commendable and the staff even greeted us “Happy Friendship Anniversary’ too!

If you are planning to stay here, I would suggest you to take a day to explore the hotel. I can foresee when the airport opens, Sapa will be touristy and the price of the hotel will surely high in demand.

Note: There will be a deposit required when you check-in. We did face issue with lack of response from email correspondence. We tried to email to the hotel requesting for additional bed but there is no reply. However, when we did the check-in, there is a record of the request though. Overall, it is still a good experience.
