[SG EATS][海底捞火锅] HaiDiLao Hot Pot 313 SOMERSET | ORCHARD

Finally! I tried the famous HaiDiLao last week with my foodie friends. HaiDiLao is known with their excellent service, quality foods and long waiting time. We tried to call to make reservation for the outlet at 313 Somerset but it is not allowed. Thus, one of the group, Nikki went around 4pm to secure the dinner table for 7pm. 海底捞火锅 HaiDiLao is a popular restaurant chain in China with origins in Sichuan since 1994.

If you ever pass by the restaurant at 313 Somerset, you will see many groups of people sitting or standing around the area waiting patiently to dine in. HaiDiLao provides free services to occupy their waiting customers by providing snacks and beverages and sitting areas. They also provide manicure services, boardgames and crane-folding to motivate customers to fold to get further discount. Kids also have their entertainment corner. As for us, we took up the crane-folding challenge and fold 90 cranes to get 3 dishes worth S$6.00 as complimentary for our table.
Once we are done, we called the staff to check on the quantity. To our surprise, he did not count and just based on the amount we have given to him. The staff just cleared the cranes together with the snacks and put it away. We are felt a bit sad because we took sometime to gather the quantity. Nevertheless, we got our complimentary dish.

We were given the iPad to place our order after we settled down. Hot towels were served to individual. We can also request for the lens tissue to wipe specs. Aprons are provided if you worry that your clothes will get the stain from steamboat. Ziploc bags are provided to protect our handphones. Hair Tie is provided if ladies who wish to tie their long hair. All these little details are contribution to their services. Orders are made through iPad but if you need help, the service staffs will be there to assist.
There are options to have up to 4 flavours in a pot. Since we have 7 of us, we decided to go with 4 flavours ( 1 – Sichuan Spicy (Mala麻辣) , 1 –Chicken Soup and 2- Tomato soup). The ladies favourite are the tomato soup base. As for me, I have no preferences and generally find the soup flavours are not bad.
I couldn’t bring myself to try the Sichuan spicy soup base. I can see the fiery spicy from its appearance. The Sichuan peppercorns certainly can stimulate the tongue and the numbness comes after that. Either you love it or you hate it!
There is also a counter area where dinners can mixed their preferred dipping sauce from the available condiments.
The ingredients that we ordered for our steamboat includes Black Pork (half) S$8.00, Pork Belly (half) S$7.00, U.S Beef Slices (half) S$9.00, Handmade mashed S$16.00, Mini Sausage (half) S$4.00, Luncheon meat (half) S$4.00, Chinese Cabbage S$4.00, Quail Eggs (half) S$3.00, Sweet Potato wide (half) S$3.00, Beech Mushrooms (half) S$5.00, Chicken slices (half) S$6.00, Golden Mushroom (half) S$3.50 and more.

Handmade Noodles which is one of their signatures which I didn’t try that day. It was made right on the spot where the noodle master came up to individual table and start to perform his noodles tricks. It is quite an entertaining as I seen in few videos in my Facebook feed. But too bad, we didn’t ordered that. So, no photos here 

Overall, the service was efficient and the ingredients were served to our table within minutes. Fresh ingredients and my favourite was the black pork and the beef slices. Total bill was S$141.83 inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST for 7 of us. We did not order fish that day. Thus, the price per pax is quite reasonable as we only pay S$20.26 each. The steamboat price is slightly expensive from the average but given the quality and the services here, it does deserve it. It’s all about dining with pleasure and comfortable. But, I will not wait for more than an hour for this unless with a group of friends.
