So, Singapore Salted Egg Croissants war has begun early this year 2016. Flavour Flings Café is the first to launch followed by Antoinette on 1st February. And there are 3 more players in Singapore market. I have not got the chance to try yet. But I am back to Seven Oaks Bakery & Café on 31st January for their salted egg lava croissant. You can read my first review here.
We were hosted by the owners of the café and managed to get to try the salted egg lava croissant for the second time. The lady boss, Dato Seri Jenny shared that their salted egg lava croissants are selling very fast and received complaints due to the shortage of supply. Currently Seven Oaks are producing 150pcs daily and they are increasing to 170pcs on weekdays and 200pcs on weekend after Chinese New Year. Their fresh salted egg lava croissants are out from 1:30pm onwards and currently everyone is limit to 3pcs for each purchase.
This time round, with the right reheat temperature and timing, my salted egg croissant flows beautifully once we cut into half. The croissant’s has the crispy outer layers and buttery savoury taste. And the salted egg yolk lava was savoury and well-balance of sweetness. This time round I notice the colour is more towards orangey in colour as compared to my first visit. I was told that they have change new supply of salted eggs and it is fresher. Thus, this explains the beautiful colours that getting all the attention. And the lava was flowing smoothly and smells aromatic the moment it served on the table.
