I have been to Penang quite a number of times and usually spent my time in Georgetown or Bayan Lepas instead of Batu Ferringhi. So thanks to Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La, my bff and I ventured to Batu Ferringhi, north shore of the tropical island of Penang during our recent trip.Apart from Shangri-La group, Eastern and Oriental (E&O) hotel is the only luxury hotels in Penang.

 Golden Sands Resort is known for its recreational facilities including a Par 3 Pitch and Puff golf course, Adventure Zone Family Entertainment Centre and swimming pools set amidst a lush, tropical garden.  The hotel offers amazing views from different angle of the coastal. I got a gorgeous hotel room facing sea view. The room is fully furnished in a contemporary style and they also comfortably accommodate a third person in the room. The private wrap-around balcony in each room overlooks enchanting sea views was amazing. I sat at the balcony and watching the sunset views during my stay and it was precious moment.

 Golden Sands Resort optimises family –oriented activities that entertained the kids whole day long. Cool Zone Kids Club offers activities for 4 -12 years of age ranging from photo frame decorating, t-shirt painting, lantern marking, paper bag creations, pool games, sand sculpture, visit to the Eco Centre and many more. Kids will get entertained and by end of the day, they will just K.O and sleep soundly in the hotel room.On top of these, complimentary lunch and dinner are provided for all children when they participate in Cool Zone Kids Club. 5. WATER SPORTS
 If you are staying along the beach area, don’t forget to check out the water sports. Water sports like parasailing, jetski and SUP are available along the beach of the hotel. Although it is not by the hotel, the third party offers quite a reasonable pricing to attract tourists and hotel guests. The para-sailing starts from RM100 onwards and sometimes you can even negotiate for a cheaper deal. I see the parasailing was quite a hit among the rest of the water sports.

6. AWAY FROM “REALITY”

To be frank, I find myself indulging in my comfort bed in the hotel room and away from the bustling city or ‘reality’ during my stay. The hotel resort is in the midst of lush greenery and tropical atmosphere which I personally feel ease and comfortable.I could just stay whole day in the hotel room and chill watching TV or even sitting outside the balcony overlooking the gorgeous view.
The hotel has all the facilities and they has 3 restaurants – Sigi’s Bar and Grill on the Beach, Garden Café and Lobby Lounge which hotel guests can stay-in and dine-in.
Otherwise, we can walk out of the resort for nearby hawker food centres or even McDonald’s from opposite direction. There is also pasar malam (night market) along the road outside the resort every night that caters for tourists. The neighbourhood is filled with many eateries and restaurants that we do not need to be bother of not having transportation. Food, facilities and services are in sheer convenience in Golden Sands Resort. I just need to sit back and relax.
 The hotel is a perfect combination of a fabulous location, a cosy and comfortable stay experience and service.
