Whenever I am back to Johor Bahru (JB) over the weekend, my parents will bring my sister and I out to try out the food around the town. My dad saw Tony’s blog post on Baliban/Taika Hua Braised Duck and decided to check it out. So, he brought us there for Sunday breakfast.




 Taika Huat Braised Duck is well-known among locals and surprisingly they also have customers from Singapore. Their braised duck meat is in Teochew-style and it has established since 1970’s. There were regulars too when we were there for breakfast.
 There is a counter in the middle of the shop where customers need to place order and make payment on the spot. My dad went ahead to order and our job is to find a place to sit.

Here is what we ordered:
Braised Duck RM20.00 ~S$6.45
 The signature braised duck meat is moist and soft. The gravy sauce penetrates into the meat with mild herb flavour in it. Definitely a flavourful local delights.

Intestine RM7.00~S$2.26
 There also serve braised tofu, intestines and hard boiled eggs. We ordered intestine to share.

Preserved Salted Vegetables RM6.00 ~S$1.94

Duck Feet RM6.00 ~S$1.94
 My first time trying duck feet and I am quite addicted to it. It has the similar texture with chicken feet. I can tasted the nice chewy collagen in it.

Total bill RM49.30~S$15.90 inclusive of 1 bowl of rice and 4 bowls of kueh teow soup and 7% GST. All of us enjoyed the meal and my parents have been here for more than 5 times after their first visit. I hope to visit them again to try their braised pork trotter.

I am back here again for their braised duck for lunch recently. The prices are revised and the signage only shows the price of the braised ducks but not the other dishes pricing though.

I ordered the usual braised duck for two pax and also pig trotter to try. Taste wise is still the same as I remembered. Comforting meal!
