[TAIWAN EATS] Café Hopping in Taipei | Taiwan
Just like Singapore, Taipei’s café culture has been trending over the past few years. So during my recent trip to Taipei, I did café hopping with my foodie friends. The cafes here are so different from Singapore and Malaysia. It is a place not just for food and drinks, but also an instagram-worthy spots for photography too. Each café has own unique concept and designs. The locals here also enjoyed hanging out in cafes for hours. It is a part of the current lifestyle now.
Here are the cafes I visited during my stay in Taipei:
1. Tamed Fox Café
The white minimalist café with wooden table caught my attention while I did a research on the cafes in Taipei. The café is actually two F&B joints that specialize in coffee and healthy food. The doughnut placed on top of their drink has become their signature. The best part is that the doughnut is actually carrot cake coupled with cinnamon. Such a creative way to present the carrot cake and it is not overly sweet. We love the taste of the dessert and of course the instagram-worthy shot.

Keep a lookout for boutique Hotel V while searching for the café. The Lobby of Simple Kaffa is located at the basement of the hotel. You will see a swirl staircase that leads you to the basement. The café is proud with 2016 World Barista Champion, Berg Wu (吳則霖) . Apart from their speciality coffee, their Matcha Swiss Roll is a must-have dessert when you visit their café. It is also an instagram-worthy open courtyard space to shot.

3. Fika Fika Cafe
Fika Fika is derived from the Swedish concept of fika, which means “to have coffee”. Fika is about ‘me-time to slow down and appreciate the good things in life’. The café offers freshly grounded coffee and also bags of coffee beans to take-away. The café has a beautiful minimalist space with natural lights for photography as well. It is a good place to chill and relax all day long especially there are plugs to charge electrical appliances. Customers will just slack in to enjoy me-time.

The café is located quite a distance away from the city but I wanted to try their Matcha Cake so badly that I decided to visit this place. I am glad that I made my way there because the café is located at the neighbourhood area and it is quite peaceful in the afternoon. I spent my whole afternoon day with the complimentary WIFI services and their Matcha Cake and drink.

For those who are intending to do café hopping, I would suggest you to do take away for coffee instead because the price for take-away is cheaper. The reason being is that the cafes in Taipei have a minimum spending. Everyone has to order a drink when you dine in the café. It is quite pricey if you are planning for cafehopping. Imagine how much you need to fork out a day?
