[SG EATS] NAN HWA CHONG FISHBOAT SERVES ALASKAN CODFISH NOW

Nan Hwa Chong Fishboat is the oldest (since 1927) fishhead steamboat in Singapore. If you ask your elderly, they will surely heard about it. It’s traditional fish soup steamboat represents Singapore’s heritage and memories to Singaporean. What makes them different from the rest is that the steamboats are prepared using charcoals instead of gas-stove steamboats. The soup is prepared with essence of fish bones and other secret ingredients. It takes at least 5 hours to cook so that the broth is silky smooth.

Diners can choose to dine in at level 1 with coffeeshop interior or level 2 with air-conditioned settings. And of course we headed up to level 2 for our tasting session.

Grouper Steamboat S$38.00 / S$45.00 /S$70.00 served in the traditional way with charcoal burning to keep the soup boiling. I was addicted with the broth and best part is that we can refill the soup without additional charges.

Atlantic Codfish S$20.00. This is the new addition in the family. You can choose this to indulge into the smooth and soft tender fish texture. All you need to do is to shabu-shabu for approximately 30-50 seconds and you can have it.

Although the highlight is the steamboat, we are offered with delectable Zi Char dishes.

Braised Pig Intestines S$8.00 /S$10.00 /S$12.00

Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves S$6.00 /S$8.00 /S$10.00. Simple yet satisfying dish to go with a bowl of rice.

Fried Pork Belly with Fermented Red Beancurd S$10.00 /S$15.00 /S$18.00

Oyster Omelette S$10.00 /S$12.00 /S$15.00. Tasted average in general but consider decent for zhi char dishes.

Fried Shrimp Roll S$8.00/ S$12.00 /S$15.00. Loving the crispy fried and the flavourful mixture ingredients in it.

Special Homemade Beancurd S$8.00 /S$12.00 /S$15.00. It has the soft and smooth interior that gives a complete nice taste as its own. I would like to go with my plain rice too.

And of course, you can also add salty fish into your steamboat to enhance the flavour of the broth.

We had a quick session that night as the foods are served fast and good too. It truly live up the name of its own. I would suggest for family gathering dinner here.
