Bak Kut Teh, wanton noodles, chicken rice, Chendol and many more local foods are not to miss when you travel to Johor Bahru. Every state of Malaysia has its own version of dish. For example, the laksa in Johor and laksa in Penang has different taste. Even the char kway teow in Johor Bahru tasted differently from Penang version. So, be sure you check out the local delicacies in Johor Bahru. So many locals foods to introduce to you guys. I will do a separate post on the local foods to explore in Johor Bahru soon.

2. NIGHT MARKET / PASAR MALAM

Pasar Malam or commonly known as night markets are popular among locals and tourists. The whole stretch of the streets is filled with stalls to explore, see, eat and buy at the same time. You can have a taste of local delicacies at reasonable prices. There are several pasar malam to explore in different parts of Johor Bahru. If you wish to explore the Pasar Malam at KSL Mall, be sure that you are in town on Monday because it is only available on every Mondays. Most of the stalls are run by Chinese that sells local Chinese delicacies. There are also daily necessities and apparels stalls as well.
Or you can take a walk at the night market in the centre of Johor Bahru along Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, Jalan Sengget which is known locally as ‘Pasar Karat’. It is happening every night after 7pm. The stalls are mainly run by Muslim thus only non-halal foods are available. Having said that, get your hands on the Malay delicacies such as sup kambing and kuihs while exploring the open-air stalls.
