[HK EATS] DIM SUM ICON X CRAYON SHIN-CHAN (蜡笔小新) – WHEN THE CARTOON TURNS TO FOODPORN
Hello Hong Kong! I feel good to be back again for a weekend trip last month. So, I took the opportunity to visit Dim Sum Icon again for the third time. I know what you are thinking. What? 3 times at the same place? Yes all because of the Gudetama custard buns! That was the reason why I am here for the first 2 time. Before Crayon Sin-Chan characters, Dim Sum Icon also had Little Twin Stars dumplings and Kobitos , which are launched seasonal.
I trust that Crayon Shin-chan 蜡笔小新- this character is most people nostalgic childhood cartoon memories. The mischievous and funny character when he is dealing with his mum and teacher.
Since my friend and I had a fulfilling lunch at Amber Restaurant, we decided to order 2 dishes and a drink to try. However, the restaurant has a requirement. Everyone has to order a drink so we end up ordering 2 drinks instead.
Shin Chan Steamed Chocolate Buns (2pcs) HKD49 ~ S$10.90
Instagram-worthy chocolate buns when you poke it and make it like shitting out of the butt. That’s the purpose of people ordering it. The chocolate flows perfectly well and making it gross and yet an unconventional style of presenting the dish. Enough of it, the chocolate bun tasted pretty decent and the chocolate filling were generous.
Buriburi Zaemon steamed egg yolk buns (2pcs) HKD49 ~S$10.90

Another bun to squeeze is the Buriburi Zaemon steamed egg yolk buns. It is like squeezing ‘mucus’ out of the pig’s nose.
Watermelon Special Drink HKD49~S$10.90
The drink with Sin-Chan butt made out of pudding on top of the watermelon drink. If you shake the drink, you can literally see the ‘butt’ pudding is moving.
Overall, I am still impressed with the consistency of the food quality served here. Despites of the theme that ever-changing, the dishes are served tasted decent and appealing too. The only downside is that there is a requirement stated that everyone must order a drink when you dine here. No sharing of drinks is allowed.
