[JB EATS] OMAYA Mount Austin- Korean Spiced Chicken And Gooey Cheese Goodness
Omaya is the latest Korean eateries in Mount Austin, Johor Bahru followed by its success in Subang Jaya and Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. Omaya Mount Austin is their 3rd outlet and it is currently trending in Johor Bahru. I was there over the weekend and there was a queue even before the restaurant open for operation. 
The restaurant has a big space that caters quite a number of diners. The interior design has the industrial element including the staff uniforms and also tool box used to serve side dishes.
I visited the outlet with 5 friends on Saturday noon and we shared quite a number of dishes.
Here are the dishes we tried that day:
1200mm Korean BBQ Skewer RM138.00 ~S$ 44.52
This is best to share among 2-3 pax. The skewer is hung high up the ceiling just like the video I shared above. This 1200mm BBQ skewer comes with complimentary grilled egg around the hotplate and also kimchi and sauces to dip with the meat and seafood. This certainly caught everyone’s attention. The service staff will be there to grill and serve customers until they fully grilled all the items on the skewer.
Deep Fried Squid Cheesy Toppokki Stew RM58.00~S$18.70
Crispy deep-fried squid dipped in cheesy sauce and toppokki stew at the layer below. The cheese can be stretch as high as the photo shown. Instagram-worthy and taste good too.
Honey Mustard Boneless Chicken Cube RM25.00 ~S$8.06
Cheesy honey mustard boneless chicken cube is good for sharing. We ended up finish the cheese faster than chicken cubes.
Cotton Candy Frizzy Drink RM9.90~S$3.20
The instagram-worthy cotton candy frizzy drink comes with different flavours of drink to choose from.
Watermelon Soju RM13.90~S$4.50
A signature drink commonly found in Korean eateries. A mixture of watermelon juice with soju to pair with korean dishes.
It was indeed a filling meal for everyone. What make Omaya different from other Korean restaurant is their 1200mm Korea BBQ Skewer and their seafood with cheese. Omaya also serve korean stew, dalkgabi, army stew and seafood platter. They have more offerings as compared with other Korean restaurants and the price is reasonable for group sharing.
