[IPOH EATS] Woong Kee Tau Fu Fa (旺记豆腐花 ) Ipoh-One of the famous stall with Instagram-worthy Blue Beancurd
Do you know that soya beancurd is one of the must-try dessert in Ipoh? There are few famous stalls to try here and one of them is Woong Kee Tau Fu Fah. Tau Fu Fa in Cantonese is known as soya bean curd is made using their spring water in Ipoh. The stall is located in the corner of a shophouse and it is a walking distance from Big Mom Beancurd 靓妈豆花.
There was a queue when we arrive in the afternoon and everyone is queuing patiently for the beancurd. The shop has limited seating area in the inside and usually customers will just sit outside the shop to enjoy the beancurd. That’s what we did too.
The beancurd texture here in Woong Kee is light, smooth and soft as well. However, I still prefer Funny Mountain Soyabean & Tau Fu Fah though. They offer various toppings such as glutinuous rice ball (RM1.00 ~S$0.35) , red beans, ginko, peanuts, sesame and grass jelly ( RM0.50 each ~S$0.20 each). And the soya beancurd comes different sauce choices at RM2.00 ~S$0.70 . Sauces including chrysanthemum, rose, blue flower, osmanthus and jasmine.
We ordered the blue flower and osmanthus with grass jelly to try. Okay we ordered the blue flower beancurd because it is instagram-worthy and unique too. They also sell them in drinks as well.
Once we are done with our beancurd, we returned the bowl to the shop and off to the next destination. It is really an old school way of eating. If Ipoh is too far for you, you can check them out in their stall located in Maxwell Food Centre in Singapore.
