[EXPLORE SG] My Visit to Sembawang Hot Spring Park (三巴旺溫泉)
Singapore has two outdoor hot springs, which is Sembawang and Tekong Island. While Tekong Island is not accessible (offshore island used for military training), we are here to explore Sembawang Hot Spring Park. Sembawang Hot Spring Park has reopened in January 2020 with new improved cascading hot spring pools and other facilities including accessibility for wheelchair users.

My Experience
Since we cannot travel out of Singapore, we decided to explore Singapore. My friend and I decided to explore the north side of Singapore over the weekend. We reached the hot spring park around 9.30am and it was already crowded with people. Everyone seems to come well-prepared. They brought along bucket, foldable chair and even trolley to push the bucket of water back home.
Before arriving the hot spring area, we were greeted with the memory lane at the new Floral Walk. You can learn about the fruit trees and edible plants along the path that are commonly found in kampungs during the 1960s to 1990s. We can see butterflies all over the place. There is a beautiful Banyan Tree spotted that worth for an instagram-worthy shot. It was indeed a beautiful sunny Saturday morning.
You will also pass by the one and only F&B outlet which is next to the public toilet along the walk to the hot spring.
Finally arrive at the cascading pool after a short walk of less than 5 minutes from the entrance. It was already packed with people. The pool mimics the hot spring in its natural state, where overflowing pools of hot water form after emerging from the ground. Water emerges at the top at 70°C and will flow out at the final pool at 40°C, which is the optimal temperature for contact with skin. We tried the 40°C and it was already quite challenging under hot sun. You will slowly get used to the temperature once you put your foot in and enjoy that moment. The pool is also designed to allow for wheelchair users as well. I noticed there are quite a number of elderly in wheelchair that day. We waited for almost 30minutes to secure a seat at the pool because we did not bring bucket with us to soak our feet. Although there are public buckets to use in the park, it is limited in quantity. It was all used up by the time we arrived that day.
Also spot the Egg Cooking Station where you can experience to cook your egg under the taps of flowing hot spring water at 70ºC . We brought our own eggs and container to put under one of the taps and let it run for approximately 30-35 minutes. It turned out pretty good! I even brought pepper along for seasoning purpose while my friend brought bread along to eat together.
There is also an Educational Zone for kids to learn about the groundwater cycle. It is an interactive water play feature for the kids.
And since we are at Sembawang, we headed to the The Original Sembawang White Beehoon restaurant’s main branch for lunch before heading back home.
It was a fun experience exploring Sembawang Hot Spring Park. Family can have an interactive session there while the elderly can have a nice soaking foot bath too. It will be even better if there is lesser crowd to enjoy the full experience. The place is already crowded by 9 plus so be sure to be there early for full experience. The park opens from 7am till 7pm.
