[SG EATS] TAIWANESE PORRIDGE AND DISHES BY GOLDLEAF RESTAURANT
Sometime back I joined fellow foodies to Goldleaf Restaurant in conjunction of their 45th anniversary celebration which is located within a walking distance from Telok Ayer MRT station. Goldleaf is a restaurant that specialized in porridge in Singapore in the 1970s and served Taiwanese dishes to diners. The restaurant initially located along Orchard Road and has been relocated to other places and finally here at Amoy Street.
Here are the foods that we shared the other day:
Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables S$16.00
Stewed pork belly with preserved vegetables is all good to have it with a bowl of plain porridge. Alternatively, you can have it with steamed buns too!Too bad I was full that day and didn’t try it with the steam bun.
Golden Prawn Roll S$12.00 for 6pcs
This is one of their signature dish and wins the heart of the fellow foodies. The crunchy bites from the chestnuts and the ingredients wrapped over it are thumbs up dish literally for everyone.
Crispy Tamban Fish with Sesame S$10.00
Not everyone will enjoy this dish but I think the elderly will surely love it. Tamban fish is a deep-bodied sardine with fine bones. It is best to have it while it is still crispy and pair it with the porridge. Simple dish but yet a comforting dish some may find it too much bones though.
Pan Fried Cod Fish
Anything with cod fish is good for me. I enjoyed the crispy part of the fish and the soft tender inner enhances my enjoyment for this dish.
3 Cup Beancurd with Basil Leaves S$13.00
It is the vegetarian version of the 3 Cup Chicken.
Chye Por Omelette S$6.00
Preserved radish with eggs are just perfect for a bowl of plain porridge.
Lo Han Chye S$13.00
Steamed Pork Pattie with Salted Egg Yolk S$10.00
It’s a must have dish to go with porridge.
Desserts
There is quite a choice on the desserts. Herbal Jelly (Gui Lin Gao) S$4.50, Longan Tofu S$4.00 and Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts (orh nee) S$5.00 are available.
