[SG EATS] Five Ten At South Bridge Road – S$5 – S$10 Taiwanese Fusion Cuisine (CLOSED)
Five Ten located at South Bridge Road is the few weeks old restaurant. The space was previously modern asian restaurant and bar called CATO. E and I decided to give this place a try since we were deciding where to have dinner for last weekend. Five Ten serves small sharing plates with only two pricing – S$5.00 & S$10.00.
We went during dinner time and were told that the rice bowl is only available for lunch. So, we are kinda disappointed because it is instagram-worthy. The sous-vide egg really makes the whole bowl looks attractive. Hahaha…
Anyway, we browse through the menu and here are the dishes we ordered:
Fried Chicken S$5.00
Deep-fried sesame and soy marinated chicken with nori mayonnaise. The fried chicken tasted crunchy with a crisp, juicy meat and tender crust. I liked to dip it with the nori mayonnaise to give extra flavour to it. It is best to enjoy it as beer snacks or even ala-carte.
Tau Kwa with Century Egg S$5.00
Deep fried tau kwa in cubes shaped with century egg and their house special sauce. This reminds me of the kway chap taste.
Skewered Beef Tripe S$10.00
Braised beef honeycomb tripe in skewer with house pickled cabbage. If only it comes with the sourish concoction of minced chilli, it would be better.
Pork Ribs S$10.00
Sous-vide pork ribs with hoisin glaze sprinkled with sesame seeds and pickled cabbage. The pork ribs are nicely done, tender and moist in texture.
Steak S$10.00
Seared sirloin steak in slices served in slices with house pickled cabbage and topped with garlic crisps. The steak is prepared in medium done and tender in texture. The garlic crisps certainly contribute the texture and create a great flavour combo. The house pickled cabbage is best to have it separately.
Our total bill for 2 pax – S$47.08 inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST. We did not order drinks as it comes with complimentary water. And Five Ten offers free flow of rice too! You can request for second bowl if one bowl is not enough for you. There also serves ice-creams from Apiary and alcohol drinks as well.
Overall the dinner here is rather comforting but not really filling for E. He prefer bigger portion though. With the affordable pricing, the food served is rather good in quality. The staffs are friendly and approachable too. They also welcome feedback as we did feedback our thoughts after trying out the food.
Read about the similar concept but it is Cafe in Johor Bahru.
