[SG EATS] 6 DURIAN DESSERTS TO TRY AT HIGH TEA BUFFET MARRIOTT CAFÉ
The durian season is back again! Have you got your durian cravings yet? Other than visiting durian stalls, hotels are launching durian desserts to attract customers. And Marriott Café is offering durian dessert spread for their High Tea buffet from now till end July 2016. I visited and tried the desserts over the weekend. Aww… I am blessed with the treats. So, what are the durian desserts available on top of the High Tea buffet spread?
1. Fried Durian Balls
Deep fried round durian balls with crispy outer layer and soft durian flesh in it. The durian tasted light and mild and the crispy exterior was tad oily. I would prefer the one I had at Swissotel Merchant Court though.
2. Durian Pancakes
There is a live crepe station where the chef prepared the pancakes on the spot. The durian puree spread on top of the crepe and fold it nicely before serving to the diners. The durian taste was on point for my personal preference and top with two scoops of ice-cream of my choice. I know I am greedy!haha! The plus point is that you get your durian pancakes hot on the spot.
3. Durian Swissroll
Any swissroll lovers? There is durian flavour in the house. The moist sponge cake with light durian cream layer within the swirl shape.
4. Mini Durian Mousse in Cups
Mixture of bittersweet flavours in this mini cups.
5. Durian Puffs
The choux pastries stuffed with durian creams was nicely placed at the dessert counter. Although the durian cream was smooth, the durian taste was quite light and it would be better to have more fillings in it.
6. Durian Mochi
My favourite of all the durian desserts. Although the visual was plain, the taste was awesome. Thick durian puree and chewy mochi texture on the outer layer.
Diners can enjoy the luxurious spread of local and international delicacies and at the same time having durian based desserts for a treat. Head down to give a try their durian desserts while the season is still on. Hits and misses but definitely more hits and misses for me! With the price offer, I get to try other delicacies include the local and western cuisines. And do try their fried carrot cake which I mistakenly thought it was an omelette.
