[SG EATS] MITZO WEEKEND DIM SUM BRUNCH – 7 ALA-CARTE SECTIONS TO INDULGE
My first visit to Mitzo was during the Chinese New Year tasting and this time round I am here to celebrate one of my friend’s birthday. I suggested Mitzo Restaurant & Bar in Grand Park Orchard Hotel because I missed their redefining Cantonese cuisine with a modern twist. Mitzo is currently having Weekend Dim Sum Brunch Buffet with Cocktail Pairing now. We decided to have Weekend Dim Sum Brunch Buffet here on Sunday.
The Executive Head Chef Nicky Ng was previously Executive Chef de Cuisine in 2011 at the Michelin starred dining establishment Hakkasan in New York City. E has always raved about the delicacies here. So, I know we definitely have a good time here.
So, what do they have for the Weekend brunch buffet?
There are quite varieties for the ala-carte buffet spread. The list of the dishes is available here. We did not try everything in the list though. Since it is in ala-carte, we ordered our dishes from the order chit available on the table.
Here are some of the foods that you wouldn’t want to miss:
1. SUPREME SPECIAL DISHES
Supreme Special Dishes are available for each person to choose ONE serving for Bamboo Clam, Live Lobster and Abalone. There are 3 types of cooking method for the ingredients and we tried all. There are 5 of us so we shared the foods.
The Baked lobster with creamy lemon sauce and cheese was on the point and I wish to have second serving. The abalone truffles rice was also one of the favourite among the others. Spicy chilli lobster served with bun reminds me of the chilli crab and mantou.
2. ROASTS
Moving on, we ordered Mitzo special barbecued pork (蜜汁叉烧) which was awesome. It was crispy and sweet on the outer layer and tender in the inside. The caramelized crust on the outer layer was sweet and appertizing. This reminds me of the one I had at Mott 32 in Hong Kong. We ordered the second servings for this.
3. DIM SUM
As for dim sum, there are total of 12 choices for us to pick. We ordered the Escargot cheese puff which was very instagram-worthy, steamed bacon roll served with golden seafood sauce, custard moon bun (流沙奶皇包)and char siew bun (叉烧包). The custard moon bun reminds me of Bao Qing Tian because of the charcoal skin and the moon shape. We also had Crispy Pork Belly served with Bun (脆皮烧肉包).
4. SOUP
Double-boiled soup of the day that you won’t want to miss when you are here. We had winter melon soup which was the soup of the day. The broth was light and yet flavorful in taste.
5. WOK-DISHES
Wok-dishes are in the list. There are total of 8 choices to choose from but we are too full to try all. We had the braised truffles pork ball which was surprisingly good. The truffles taste was not overpowering and the meat was tender and soft.
6. RICE/NOODLE/CONGEE
A total of 5 choices includes braised congee with scallops, braised truffles udon, fried rice and noodles to choose. We only had braised duck with pulled noodles.
7. DESSERT
If only I knew the dessert was so refreshing and nice, I would start off with this first. I had two servings of Double-boiled longan treasure tea. Their chilled mango cream with sago and pomelo topping and the aloe vera with osmanthus jelly was quite a hit as well. Their mini Hokkaido milk cheese tart is also one of our favourite. Deep-fried chocolate liquer dumpling was crispy in the outer and it was oozing out the moment we split half. The only dessert that we did not order was the chestnut cake so does let me know if you have tried that.
Pretty much summarize the whole dishes for the weekend brunch buffet in Mitzo. We ordered a pot of Pu Er with Chrysanthemum (S$5.00++ /per pax) to pair with our foods. The total bill was S$435.49 inclusive of the 10% service charge and 7% GST and also the peanuts that was served before our meal. It was indeed a pleasant dining experience with friendly and attentive service staffs here in Mitzo.
