[SG EATS] MARRIOTT CAFÉ SINGAPORE WELCOMES AUGUST WITH EXCITING TASTES OF KOREA
Singapore Mariott Tang Plaza Hotel’s Marriott Café is joining the craze over “Descendants of the Sun” and Korean variety programs with the launch of Korean food between 16 August till 31 August 2016. Specially prepared by guests’ chefs Choi Dae-hwan and Lee Jae-Bin from JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, diners will be spoilt for choice with the Korean cuisine spreads here.
Chef Choi Dae-hwan brings with him more than 16 years of experience in many of Seoul’s finest hotels. He started off in Yongsusan, one of the best Korean cuisine restaurants, Chef Choi Dae0hwan worked his way up the ranks to become the Assistant Chef at just 24 years old. Shortly after joining JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square, Chef Choi fired up the Seoul’s dining scene and received raved reviews when he crafted the Korean menu at the ‘2015 Cruise Collection’ after party by Chanel at the Seoul Dongdaemun Design Plaza.
What’s the Korean highlights?
1. KOREAN-STYLE SOUP
You can kick start with beef turnip soup, kimchi stew, dry Pollack soup as well as a soup of the day.
2. KOREAN SALADS
Or you can start with greens in Korean-style The chef prepared Korean salads such as Bok Choy Namul, Shitake Mushroom and Bean Sprout Namul.
3. BEEF BULGOGI
Once you are good for some carbs, go for beef bulgogi. This is one of my favourite dish. The beef bulgogi is marinated overnight and thus this explains the tenderness and flavourful taste of the meat texture. It was quite addictive and sweet for my liking.
4. AN DONG STYLE CHICKEN STEW WITH SOY SAUCE
5. ROAST CHILLI HALIBUT FILLET
6. PORK BELLY BOSSAM
Korean food lovers will not miss out the Pork Belly Bossam. This thinly sliced pork belly is boiled in spices and thus the flavourful taste in it.
7. KIMCHI PANCAKE
This is my second favourite of the night. The bite-size kimchi pancake made with sliced kimchi, flour and other vegetables was fluffy and light. The sauce compliments well with the kimchi pancake as well.
8. KOREAN DESSERTS
Our usual buffet desserts fare are cakes and ice-cream but this time you can try out the Korean sweet treats such as Sweet Red Bean Soup, Black Raspberry Tea Punch and Yakgwa (Korean pastry).
If the Korean cuisines aren’t enough to fill your stomach, enjoy the international cuisines available in the buffet spread as well.
The Taste of Korea Buffet lasts from 16 August to 31 August 2016.
