[SG EATS] CASA TARTUFO- HOMELY FEEL ITALIAN RESTAURANT AT SCARLET HOTEL
E and I went food hunting over the weekend and decided to check out the Italian restaurant, Casa Tartufo. Casa Tartufo is located in the Scarlet Hotel, a quaint boutique hotel within a walking distance from Outram Park and Telok Ayer MRT station. Casa Tartufo specialized in fungus, truffles which exactly fit the name of the restaurant. We made a reservation via CHOPE and it was a quiet Saturday night at the restaurant.
We had a homely feel dining in this Italian restaurant with good services from the staff and a friendly smile from the chef. Their 3-course set lunch for S$38.00++ is quite an attractive deal but too bad I couldn’t make it for lunch. So, here I am patronizing over a weekend dinner.
We started off with the complimentary breads.
Starter
Burratina S$23.00++
In-house smoked burrata cheese and fresh truffles slice on top of it. The first glance of this fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream look similar to tofu pudding. It has a rich flavour inside with tint of sweetness on the outer layer. We had it with the complimentary bread and it was awesome. I will be back for this.
Mains
Costata S$39.00 (200grams)
Simple presentation of the char-grilled ribeye steak with roasted vegetables, truffle butter and fries as side. The steak is nicely done and quite filling for an individual portion. What I enjoyed most from this dish is their fries. Aromatic and nice texture of the fries.
Risotto Nero S$30.00++
Squid-ink risotto, pan-fried scallops and sundried tomatoes which is not quite photogenic dish. The pan-fried scallop is good but if only there have more of it would be even better. The risotto has the wet-style texture rather than the sticky and creamy texture instead.
Dessert
Tiramisu – S$15.00++
The dusting cocoa powder on top the layers of tiramisu lifted up the sweet bitterness of this dessert.
Signature Truffle Ice-cream with sea salt S$8.50/per scoop
The infused ice-cream with truffle aroma is quite refreshing and surprisingly good. With bits of sea salt in it, it tasted just nice after a meal.
No wines for us except for tap water so the bill inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST. The services here are highly recommendable and it is best to spend a quiet night at Casa Tartufo. Perhaps I should try their signature truffle on my next visit.
