Makan Kitchen is one of the dining restaurants in DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru that serves international buffet with local delights. I have been to Makan Kitchen several times with my parents and yet to share a post about it. So, here is my recent visit to Makan Kitchen on one of the Friday nights.

Makan Kitchen is known for its local delights which includes Malay, Chinese and Indian sections. And of course appetizer, sashimi and dessert sections as well. Makan Kitchen features different themes according the days. If you are planning to dine in over the weekend, it will be seafood theme buffet.

Appetizer and Seafood section

There is a wide range of appetizer selection to choose from. And there is a seafood counter where the oysters are freshly shucked. Sashimi like salmon, maguro (tuna) and tako (octopus) are available too.

Malay Kitchen section

When you come to this section, there are rendang, nasi briyani , satay and many more Malay dishes are served at this section. My favourite are their satays and grilled lamb. It’s definitely a must-try dish for this section.

Chinese Kitchen section

The offerings are quite extensive. They have slow-boiled soup which makes you feel like at home, dim sum, stir fried dishes, roasted chicken and noodles. Their slow-boiled soup is definitely a must-try dish here. The broth is strong in flavour and you will find yourself getting the second bowl without any hesitation.

Indian Kitchen Section

Naans are freshly prepared on the spot with other Indian cuisines displayed at the section.

Western section

Pasta is prepared upon request and diners can opt for the choice of pasta.

Dessert section

Lastly the favourite part of buffet is the sweet treats from the dessert section. They have recently added in the healthy yogurt soft serve machine next to the ice-cream counter. Diners get to DIY their own yogurt soft serve or opt for ice-creams now. And not forgetting their crepe and waffles that are prepared by the staff on the spot as well. Bite-size cakes are available on display to choose from.

The whole dining experience was pleasant and comfortable. The staffs here in Makan Kitchen are well-trained with their promptness in clearing the plates on the table. They also greeted customers with a smile.

In conjunction of the year of the Rooster, Makan Kitchen will be having “All You can Eat” Fortune Feast buffet with specialities from the Chinese Kitchen section. The buffet runs from 27th – 29th January 2017 and the Dinner Buffet from 6:30pm – 10:00PM for RM138.00NETT.
Also, enjoy a complimentary Yu-Sheng when you dine in a group of 8 or more.
Be sure you make your reservations before the slots are taken.
