[SG EATS] PUTIEN @ VIVO CITY FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR LUNCH
Putien restaurant at Kitchener road was awarded One Star for 2016 Michelin Guide Singapore. Nevertheless, the other chains are also serving quality dishes at reasonable prices. Putien specialises in Heng Hwa cuisines, a sub-category of Chinese cuisine. Its roots traced to Putian, a beautiful coastal town located in the Fujian province of China.
So, we headed to Putien located at Level 2 of Vivo City for lunch. Thankfully I made a reservation beforehand. We were told to wait for a moment before entering the restaurant as the staffs is setting up the table.
There is a total of 7 adults, 1 toddler and 2 babies. After browsing through the CNY menu, we decided to go for the ala-carte menu for lunch.
Here are the dishes that we had:
Prosperity Yu Sheng S$28.80++ (S)
One Whole Deep-fried Chicken with garlic S$30.00++
We were amazed the amount of golden garlic all over the deep-fried chicken. The chicken meat is well-prepared with the moisture and tenderness even after a while of serving.
Shredded Meat with Sesame Bun S$29.40++ (7 pieces)
There is a minimum 2pcs order for this dish.The buns and the shredded meat are served separately. Plastic gloves are provided for customers to use while trying to stuff the savoury pork meat into the golden sesame buns. Everyone loves it and even the toddler approves.
Stir fried Yam S$20.20++ (M)
It has the deep-fried tofu look at the first sight. It is my first time trying out this and I think it is pretty good with the crispy outer and soft texture in the inside.
Spinach with Egg Soup S$27.00++ (L)
Comfort dish that most people will surely order whenever they are having Chinese cuisine. Are you one of them?
Eggplant Pork floss S$10.90++ (S)
Nicely fried eggplant with porkfloss is surprisingly good. The eggplant taste is not too distinctive and the pork floss gives an extra touch.
Claypot Fish Soup S$65.80++ (L)
We wanted to order a whole fish but it was not available. Since it is CNY, it is a must to have fish on the table. So, we ordered the fish soup. The soup broth essence is so flavourful that almost everyone had second bowl.
Mazu Mee Sua S$28.50++ (L)
We wanted to order Lor Mee but decided to give this a try instead. Partly because its CNY and mee sua represents longevity. The handmade longevity noodles goes very well with the milky broth and the peanuts in it give extra crunch to it. The wet and moist noodles is recommended here.
Total bill was S$312.85 inclusive of a pot of Premium Tie Guan Yin, a bowl of plain rice, 7 towels, 10% service charge and 7% GST. Our lunch session was pleasant with service staffs promptness in acceding to diner’s request. However, I do want to highlight that the cleanliness of the table settings need to be improved though. One of the table setting cutleries still have food stains on it. We approached the staff and she did apologized and replaced a new set for us. I would still recommend Putien for big group gathering or family meals.
