“Superfood” has been trending for the past few years to promote a better and healthier lifestyle. If you ever notice that some of the restaurants do incorporate “superfood” ingredients into their dishes. If you are wondering, what am I talking about? Superfood is a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being. This includes the commonly seen chia seeds and quinoa.
So, I was invited by Superior Brand for a lunch tasting session at Yan hosted by Mr Freddy Yap sometime back. I spent the whole afternoon with him and other foodies to learn about superfood. He shared his story about how his health was in a poor condition few years ago and how he recovered from there. He also introduces his home-grown health food label product, chia seeds and bird nest to us.

WHAT SO SPECIAL ABOUT SUPERIOR BRAND CHIA SEEDS?
It is house blend chia seeds which were made up with a formulation of 5 varieties of seeds sourced from Mexico and Peru. We were told that sources from two countries are rich nutrient contents and superior health qualities.
Superior Brand Chia Seeds is priced at S$18.00/bag is processed using a unique micro-slicing method which allows each seed to be cut extra-thin while frozen. We were told that micro-sliced chia seeds enable quick and easy absorption by the body and faster delivery of nutrients as compared with the usual ones we seen (not-sliced).
To ensure the quality and freshness of the product, the chia seeds are packed in small packets that come with Ziploc. Each bag can last for approximately a month if consumed daily.

3. Great source of omega-3 fats.
TIPS: Challenge yourself by taking a teaspoon twice a day for six weeks. Some will find changes on their body. I attempted to but fail because I kept forgetting to take it in the morning.

Moving on, the brand itself is already known for their Premium Bird’s Nests S$960.00/200g of dried bird’s nest or S$158.00 for 2 bowls of double-boiled bird’s nest. The sources are from Malaysia. We were given a session to understand about the handling process of their bird’s nest from collecting from the nests till packaging. Each bird’s nest are inspected for quality before being dried in a dehumidifier. They also treated with UV light for a last stage of sterilisation. The final product is a natural, organic bird’s nest, free from any additives, chemicals or cleaning agents.
