So during my birthday month, E decided to give me a birthday treat and I chose Venue By Sebastian. I have always wanted to give this restaurant a try. Venue By Sebastian is located at Downtown Gallery and the whole building was pretty quiet on Saturday night. This casual modern European restaurant was fully booked on that night though.

Venue By Sebastian is helmed by Chef-Owner Sebastian Ng. He is also the former Chef-Owner of the now defunct Restaurant Ember.

We were given the order chit and we placed our order from there. There aren’t many varieties to choose from. We decided to give a try on the following dishes:

Jerusalem artichoke Soup, Crispy Duck S$8.00++

We enjoyed the comforting soup with subtle sweetness in flavour and the strands of duck meat in it.

Angel Hair Pasta with Sakura Ebi and Konbu S$27.00++

This reminds me of Saveur’s signature angel hair pasta. The dish has a well-balanced flavours. The combination of the thin strands of hair pasta with sakura ebi and konbu is delightful, rich and savoury in taste.

Chilean Seabass with mushroom and bacon ragout and truffle yuzu butter sauce S$36.00++

The signature dish which is highly recommended across online reviews. This is one of the classic dishes of Chef Sebastian. We enjoyed the umami flavours of this dish. The fish tasted rich, smooth and buttery. We finished it within minutes.

Duck Confit S$19.00++

Duck confit served with truffle emlsion and frisee is well executed. The duck is crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. However, we find it a bit tad dry. I would still prefer the signature duck confit from Saveur though in terms of the overall taste of the dish.

Overall we had a pleasant dinner. The service staffs are friendly and attentive I would say. However, both of us still went for second round after the meal. The concept here is on sharing plates concept. Thus, I would suggest coming with at least 4 people so that you can try more dishes and more filling. We are like 60% full after the meal though.
