[JB EATS] Ho Seng Kee 何成記云吞面世家 – JB Famous Wanton Mee At Johor Bahru City Square Mall
Ho Seng Kee is known to be one of the best JB Wanton mee in Johor Bahru when you google online. Most Singaporeans will surely give this place a try when they are in Johor Bahru. Ho Seng Kee started off in the early 1940s and expanded to restaurant at City Square Mall, Johor Bahru. It is currently run by third generation.
Their noodles are said to be freshly made daily with 100% egg based (Duck eggs and Chicken Eggs) and wheat flour. The noodles come with different sauces from original, spicy, black or soup form. We opt for the original version.
The wanton mee comes in .2 sizes – RM8.90 (~S$3.00) for medium bowl and RM13.90 (~S$4.71) for large bowl. Extra chilli sauce is available at the side and if you order dry version, they will serve with separate bowl of soup.
The noodles texture is indeed springy and QQ but I personally think it does not have the ‘wow’ factor. I think my hometown noodles-叶芳面家 – Yap Fong Noodle House taste even better. The sauce here is lighter with the light soy, sesame oil and lard. Nevertheless, the overall taste is not bad with ingredients like minced pork, char siew and wantons.
Here is one with extra noodles shot that E ordered.
I would recommend here for those who comes in Johor Bahru for the first time. The reason being of the location conveniently located at the level 6 of the shopping mall and it is just a walking distance away from JB immigration. So, why not? There are many wanton noodles in Johor Bahru are pretty decent too!
