[JAPAN EATS] Kakigori At Mamechawan [まめ茶わん] – Recommended Tokyo’s Shaved Ice Dessert
Apart from matcha desserts, Tokyo’s kakigori shaved ice desserts are recommended as well. We were looking for dessert place and came across this recommendation from online reviews. Mamechawan is recommended as one of Tokyo’s best kakigori shaved ice desserts. So, we decided to visit the restaurant on one of the days when we are exploring Tokyo.
Mamechawan is located at level 2 of a quiet building and not easily noticeable. We glad that we found the place and there was no queue in the afternoon. Lucky us! The restaurant is quite small and can only fit approximately 20 pax. They offers Kagawa-style sanuki udon and shaved ice desserts. The udon is not available between 2pm to 5pm and during this period, Mamechawan offers shaved ice desserts. So, be sure you take note on the timing before you go down.
The staffs are very kind and friendly. They tried to explain the menu to us because the menu is only available in Japanese version. And E knows a bit of Japanese so we managed to order two desserts. We had Houjicha Kakigori and Strawberry Kakigori. The price starts from 1000 Yen onwards depending on preferred additional toppings.
We enjoyed the fine shaved ice and it was really good. This reminds me of the kakigori I had in Hong Kong but this is even better. It was light, fluffy and the sweetness was not overpowering! It was a quiet afternoon and we glad that we tried it.
