[SG EATS] The Botanic at Raffles City Shopping Centre- Vegan & Vegetarian Dishes Available! (CLOSED)
The Botanic located at Raffles City Shopping Centre is helmed by Group Executive Chef Shannoon Binnie, who is also a vegan himself. He also has Australian culinary culture and travel experiences in Asia that inspired the menu here in The Botanic. And the restaurant took over Salt Tapas & Bar Restaurant previously and shared the similar concept of communal dining.
Here is how the restaurant looks like from exterior and interior.
The menu comes with vegan, vegetarian, fish and meat. There also offer wide range of organic and biodynamic wine list and fruit-based cocktail selection. And yes! The restaurant focuses on sustainable eating but at the same time offers affordable dining experience.
Kale Salad, Seeds & Grains S$16.00++
We started with vegan Kale Salad that served with golden raisins, nuts, shallots, capers and pomegranate. It was refreshing salad with zesty and juice squirting texture from pomegranate.
Free Range Scotch Egg S$15.00++
Available under Vegetarian menu option, the egg served here is an organic free range egg in a falafel along with tabouli, cucumber and yoghurt. And check out the oozing egg yolk when you slice open the falafel.
Gnocchi S$25.00++
Loving this vegetarian dish and it is simply addictive. Gnocchi topped with fresh parmesan, ricotta cheese, asparagus, peas, fennel pollen and preserved lemon. I would have it all by myself!
Grilled Squid (GF) S$22.00++
Squid ink pasta served with sea herbs, dried tomato and chilli. Umami seafood flavour dish with well-seasoned squid and loving the texture of it too.
Smoke Sambal Short Rib S$39.00++
It’s my first time having sambal short rib and it was indeed flavoursome. The smoky texture and tint of sambal spice. Smokey with easily fell apart meat served with caramelised shallots along with roasted padron peppers. It’s one of the highlight of the night too.
Chendol Pavlova (GF) (V) S$12.00++
We ended our meal with this beautifully plated Chendol Pavlova inspired by Chef Binnie’s Indonesian wife’s native cuisine. A combination of mixing coconut, jackfruit, mango, salted palm sugar and eggless meringue and best part is this dessert is vegan too. It’s amazingly tasty!
I foresee myself visiting the restaurant soon to try out the rest of the vegan and vegetarian dishes. I think Chef did a good job to create interesting and flavourful plant-based dining experience without burning a hole in your wallet. The restaurant is considered wallet-friendly place like any casual dining places.
