[SG EATS] Starter Lab Bakery At Havelock Road- Famous Bakery from Bali, Indonesia

Starter Lab, a famous bakery from Canggu in Bali, Indonesia has opened for operations in Singapore this month. The bakery cafe specialise in sourdough bakeries and this is their second outlet and first outside of Bali. The outlet is located along Havelock Road and easily spotted with their white colour theme and minimalist wooden furnishings.

As we stepped into the space, we were greeted with the counter where they showcased the breads and espresso machine followed by the cashier counter. There is an open-concept kitchen with glass windows right at the back of the space.

We were there around noon and the place is full house. We managed to score 2 seats facing the open-concept kitchen, where the bakers are working magic in the kitchen. Here are the menu listed with open-faced toasts and sandwiches.

It is more of self-service here where customers will place their orders and make payment at the same time at the cashier counter. The cutleries are available at the corner for self-service.




Starter Lab Bakery-3 Cheese
We ordered the signature Starter Lab 3 Cheese S$19.00. The sandwich comes with a mix of three kinds of cheese and it is utterly sinful. We were told that the waiting time is at least 15 minutes upon ordering. Oh my… we enjoyed the stretchy cheesy along with the crunchy and not over dense sourdough. It fits well and the sandwich is complete with pickles on the side. I would suggest sharing with a friend as it is quite filling to start off my day.

Next, we ordered House-made Mascarpone toast S$14.00 under Posh Toast (all day) menu that uses the same sourdough as the Starter Lab 3 Cheese.Creamy. Smooth house-made mascarpone with black sea salt and honey drizzled at the side helps to add sweetness to the toast. And of course the crushed walnuts on top of the toast added crunch bites for a better taste.

Apart from scones, the loaves and pastries here are fermented over 36 hours before being baked. Also, their mascarpone, crème fraiche, ricotta and pickles are made in-house.
Starter Lab Bakery-Glasshouse Coffee
The bakery café offers coffee choices, which is supplied by Glasshouse currently.
And the café only accept cashless payment method so do not worry if you do not have cash on hand (Cashless payments via contactless card, VISA or Mastercard). I would recommend visiting here for a cup of coffee and enjoy quality bread. And I would suggest you to takeaway fresh sourdough breads here for breakfast or tea break to share with family and friends.
