Dashi Master Marusaya located at Robertson Quay is a Japanese restaurant under Mariusaya group that specializes in traditional Dashi Shabu. They are under the same family as MAI 舞 by Dashi Master Marusaya(closed now). The 90-seater restaurant with three private rooms has been around in Singapore for almost 6 years and this is my first time here. I visited the restaurant during lunch time to check out their new affordably priced lunch sets.The lunch sets include Marusaya Udon Set Lunch, Dashi Shabu Set Lunch, Hot Toban Set Lunch and Shokado Bento. The price range is from S$28.00++ onwards.There are three different types of Dashi Shabu Set Lunch including Hokkaido Pork S$28.00++, US Angus Beef S$38.00++ and Wagyu S$48.00++. I opt for Wagyu Shabu Set S$48.00++ from the Dashi Shabu Set Lunch. The set include choice of 3 side dishes (select from dashimaki egg, edamame, ohitashi-Japanese spinach salad with dashi, nanbanzuke-Japanese fish dish, Hijiki seaweed, fried chicken, California roll and matcha cake) and dashi miso soup. The uniqueness of this set is the signature all –natural dashi prepared using 2-year old dried bonito from Kagoshima and natural rishiri kelp from Hokkaido. The broth is infused with savory flavour and the wagyu adds into the richness and depth to the dish. You can also request to refill your broth too.




As for my friend, he had the Shokado Bento Box priced at S$58.00++. This bento comes with Dashi Master Marusaya’s signature appetisers, chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg), tempura, grilled fish, meat, two kinds of sashimi, small rice bowl (Salmon and Ikura), small udon (hot) and dessert (pudding). It is like have a mini buffet treats in one bento set. Every element comes with umami flavours. If you love sashimi and variety choices, this set is a good choice.
