[SG EATS] Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant (家味) At Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy
Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant (家味) located at Level 2 of Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy is a contemporary Chinese restaurant with a modern take on their interior space. The restaurant offers variety of dishes that are best suit for families and big group diners. It was not aware of this restaurant until my recent staycation at the hotel that brings me to the attention. It is for sure an underrated restaurant in the east guys.
Apart from their standard ala carte menu, they also offer set menu to cater to everyone. Their lunch set menu priced at S$25.00++. It is quite a reasonable price given the portion served here. But this time round, we decided to check out their ala carte dishes first.
We started with Crispy Local Farm Soft Shell Crab with Crystal Ice Plant, Plum-infused Tomato and Yuzu Dressing S$20.00++. A good combination of taste and texture from each ingredients and distinctively sweet plum-infused tomato in it. The light touch on the yuzu dressing that is just nice for our tastebud.
Next, we ordered Jia Wei Peking Duck S$42.00++ Half | $80.00++ Whole . Since it’s only two of us, we had the half portion of crispy Peking duck skin with the standard servings along with the condiments. Either you enjoyed it just the way it is or wrap it with the crepe along with the sauce and green onions before you take a bite. Shiok!
Then the remaining of the duck meat is served as Wok Fried Minced Duck Meat with Romaine Leaf Cup for Half is S$16.00++. The portion was generous that two of us cannot finish.
Fans of Double-boiled soup can try their Soup Series. We had the Double Boiled Fish Maw, Sea Whelk, Dried Scallop and Cabbage in Chicken Consommé S$28.00++ per serving. High nutrient and comforting bowl of goodness I would say.
The staff also recommended us to try their signature Jia Wei Ocean Gems Vermicelli in Opeh Leaf S$28.00++. This carb dish is totally our kind of preference. The noodles come with lots of seafood including scallops and prawns. The broth is boiled for hours and the Opeh Leaf is more than just a traditional food wrapper. It infuses the food with a nice woody fragrance. It is essential for wok-hei dishes like this.
Lastly, we ordered Chilled Home Made Coconut Pudding with Ice-cream S$12.00++ as our choice of dessert. The dessert served with dry ice for the added effect. Refreshing and sweet ending indeed.
Overall we had a pleasant lunch experience here at Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant. They also offering Jia Wei membership offer at S$80 per year that comes with a complimentary 1 whole Peking Duck and other perks. For more information, visit their website here. The portion here is quite substantial, and the food quality is good too. If you are staying in the East and planning for family gathering or reasonable Chinese restaurant, give a try here. You can also enjoy 20% discount when you order from here.
