[SG EATS] REFURBISHED CHATTERBOX AT THE HILTON SINGAPORE ORCHARD REOPENS THIS MARCH
Chatterbox reopens with a stellar new space on level five of the newly-minted Hilton Orchard Singapore. The brand itself was first opened in 1971 at the former Mandarin Singapore. With the refurbishment taken place, Chatterbox now is ready to serve a new generation of customers, as well as welcoming their regulars.
At Chatterbox, diners can partake in a menu curated for a convivial shared dining experience and designed to satisfy. Executive Chef Liew Tien Heong has prepared the local fare with an honest-to-goodness approach and elevated with quality ingredients. The menu also boasts a wider range of dishes brimming with authentic and robust flavour, as well as some inventive iterations of Asian specialties. The menu selection consists of starters, meat, seafood, vegetable courses and meat-free items as well.
The refreshed restaurant will reopen its doors on March 14, 2022. Here’s a sneak peek at the new space.
The Mandarin Chicken Rice S$25.00++ for individual set
Chatterbox signature Mandarin Chicken Rice comes in an individual set. If you are in group, you can also order the half chicken for S$38.00++ or the whole chicken S$72.00++.
The chickens weigh around 2kg each are ‘steam-cooked’ so that the chicken is succulent and juicy each time. A lightly seasoned jus is drizzled to enhance the innate sweetness and flavour.
The aromatic, fluffy rice is cooked by a specialist with specially-procured aged Jasmine rice and a trinity of chicken fat, shallots and pandan leaves.
For set, you will be served with grated ginger, dark soy sauce.chilli sauce and a bowl of chicken broth.
Lemon Butter Tiger Prawns S$28.00++
This is one of the new dishes on the menu that consists of twice-fried shelled tiger prawns cloaked in a moreish and glossy lemon butter sauce that is tangy, savoury and spicy all at once. My dining companions loved it!
Mackeral & Crab Otah Otah S$18.00++
Premium ingredients like hefty parcel of fresh mackerel fish paste with snow crab claw meat seasoned with a homemade spice mix. Not your usual otah otah but is a comfort, meaty and delicious plate of local delights for locals.
Sea Perch with Burnt Green Chilli S$35.00++
The sea perch is pan- fried to perfection having the crispy outer yet tender on the inside. We enjoyed the fish texture and the piquant homemade chilli paste made with blended charred green chillies. The chilli has the strong, sharp flavour I would say.
Wok Fried Sambal Winged Beans S$12.00++
This unassuming plate of tender wing beans tossed in a scintillating rempah is worth trying I would say. However, enjoy it with a bowl of white rice. Shiok!
Beef Hor Fun S$25.00++
Everyone was impressed with this plate of beef hor fun with slightly charred and wok-hei flavour. It was our top three favourites of the night especially the wok hei after taste and fork-tender beef slices.
Lobster Laksa S$34.00++
Indulge in a bowl of luxurious Boston lobster laksa with other ingredients like gooey-yolked quail eggs, thick bee hoon, fish cake slices and tau pok in a thick, creamy coconut milk gravy.
Signature Coconut Ice Cream S$15.00++
Not forgetting the Chatterbox’s Signature Coconut Ice Cream that has been on the menu since its opening. The dessert is made with fresh coconut milk, coconut flesh, desiccated coconut topped with a skewer of lychees and served in a coconut husk. Full marks for the aesthetics and a good choice to end with a sweet note.
The refurbished Chatterbox has a bar area now. You will chill and drink at the bar counter before proceeding to the main dining area.Try the signature Chatterbox’s Punch S$17.00++ made with 21-days vanilla, chilli, cinnamon, lemon, banana-infused gin served with house tonic or Any Time Any Day S$19.00++ or even Rum & Raisin Old Fashioned S$20.00++ that are more fortified and forward concoctions. For non-alcoholic choices, diners can opt for mocktail series.
