[SG EATS] Omakase Experience at JIDAI Restaurant @ Circular Road
JIDAI Restaurant located at Circular Road is a French-Japanese restaurant that opened few months ago. Once you stepped into the restaurant, you can see the 招き猫 Maneki-Neko as an iconic figurine filled up the interior of the restaurant. The restaurant offers omakase-style, set lunch and a la carte menu currently. Diners can opt for 8-course omakase priced at S$88.00++ per pax or 10-course omakase priced at S$118.00++ per pax. Their omakase menu changes every 2 months and I am sharing the current 8-course omakase with French influences.
We kick start with Warm Starter- Fried Potato Cheese Mochi served with Kani Miso and Ikura. Our eyes lifted in awe the moment we had the first bite of the fried potato cheese mochi topped with seaweed. It was soft and chewy texture. What a good start of the meal!
Next, we had the beautifully plated King Salmon and Mia Oyster Sashimi with Truffle Ponzu.
The Braised Argentinian Prawns with Chorizo Braised White Bean and Yuzu Kosho was packed with flavours. A good mixture of sweet, salty and bits of sour from yuzu kosho makes everything taste good. We loved it!
For soup, we had Fresh Asahi Clam Soup with Sake Broth. Clear and smooth sake broth with natural sweetness from the clams.
In love with the Deep-Fried dish- Deep Sea Crab Spring Roe with Jade Abalone Chicken Collagen Sauce. Just look at the presentation! It tasted as good as it looks. Crispy spring roll filled with crab meat along with thick and savoury collagen sauce that goes very week with the slices of the abalone. The elements used in this dish reminds me of Chinese New Year must-have dish on the table.
And for the last savory course, we had Atlantic Cod with Onion Beurre Beanc Baby Crayfish or diners can top up additional S$18.00 for luxurious dish- Lobster Barley Porridge with Chile Uni, Grilled Firefly Squid and Smoked Lardon. I would recommend going for the top up because the combination of the ingredients were beautiful and umami indeed! As for the Atlantic Cod, it was good but we thought the sauce can be lesser though.
We ended our meal with 2 types of desserts- Sasa Leaf Wrapped Black Sesame Mochi and Sake Kyoto Grape Sorbet with Caramelised Hazelnut. My friend is not a fan of black sesame (goma) is impressed with the Black Sesame Mochi that is imported from Japan. We also enjoyed the generous big scoop of refreshing in-house made sorbet.
@hazeldiary_ S$88 Omakase with Jap-French style for lunch & dinner at JIDAI Restaurant is quite a good deal! #jidairestaurant #sgfoodie #omakase #omakasesg #sgrestaurant #sgrestaurants #japanesefood #exploresg #singaporefoodie #foodreview #sakepairing #新加坡美食 #新加坡 ♬ 桜が降る夜は – aimyon
This omakase set is also launched in conjunction of Father’s Day promotion. With S$88.00++ per pax that is available for both lunch and dinner is quite affordable. The omakase serving portion is worth the value I would say. The food here is generally umami in flavour and kudos to Chef Darwin that curates such a delicate and creative dish. Alcohol drinks like sake is available for omakase pairing as well as in the menu too.
