[SG EATS] KAARLA RESTAURANT AND BAR- AUSTRALIAN CUISINE WITH PANORAMIC SKYLINE IN CAPITASPRING

Kaarla Restaurant and Bar, the mod-Australian restaurant shares the space with Oumi, a modern Japanese Kappo restaurant at 51st floor of CapitaSpring. Kaarla meaning ‘where the home fires burn’ focuses on the cuisine from Australia’s coast. Helmed by Executive Chef John-Paul Fiechtner aka “JP” who has 20 years of experience and growing up on his hometown farm in Queensland.

The restaurant puts the spotlight on ‘Coastal Australian’ produce which represents the bounty of seafood and agriculture along the coastal regions of this giant island continent and use of fire as the central to the craft. Not forgetting the rich harvests of the 1-Arden Food Forest right from the backyard. Kaarla Restaurant and Bar CapitaSpring Singapore
Kaarla Restaurant and Bar-Australian Market Oyster
We kick start our dinner with Australian Market Oyster drizzled with a house-fermented fig lead and oyster plant vinegar. Buttery to taste, mix of sweet, salty, and briny all-in-one.
Kaarla-Octopus
Next, Octopus with smoked lee, daikon, and beef fat in a barbecue to create a vinaigrette and taste of smoky flavours. Our favourite dish of the night.

Kaarla Restaurant and Bar - Sustainable Cod Fish
For our mains, I decided on Western Australian Kinross Lamb Saddle S$58.00++ while my friend had Sustainable Cod S$58.00++. My lamb dish cooked to medium done was tender and full of flavour along with roasted zucchini and fried shallots. As for my friend’s choice, she enjoyed the firm and mild taste of the cod fish, but she felt the skin was slightly salty for her taste preferences.
Kaarla Restaurant and Bar-Wood Roasted Pumpkin
We also shared Wood Roasted Pumpkin S$18.00++ that features burnt crust pumpkin seed miso topped with goat’s feta. It may not so entice but the combination of these ingredients were fantastic. Amazingly delicious and umami flavor!
Kaarla Restaurant and Bar-Arden Grown Tigernut Ice-cream
Ending our night with Arden Grown Tigernut Ice-cream S$25.00++ . A combination of Tiger Nut Nougatine, White Chitose Corn, Calamansi Jelly and Poached Oranges. A taste of sweet and sour all at the same time and crispy texture from Tiger Nut Nougatine. The tiger nuts used for the ice-cream and nougatine come from the 1-Arden Food Forest.

The restaurant’s drinks menu includes cocktails and wines. They also have their signature cocktails to choose from. If you are trying to impress your partner on a special occasion, Kaarla might be a good choice. And not many restaurants in Singapore offer Aussie dishes that uses ingredients from farm to table from the rich harvests from 1-Arden Food Forest right from the backyard.
