SG Food: Halal Dim Sum Buffet Below S$50 at M Hotel Singapore
M Hotel Singapore has a halal dim sum buffet “Jom Dim Sum Buffet” priced at just S$38.00++ per pax. The buffet comes with more than 20 different items on the menu. It is also the first ever halal dim sum buffet in the city centre, with buffet hours running from 12pm to 2:30pm. My last visit here was for their buffet at Cafe 2000 2 years ago and did not realize that there is another restaurant at level 2. Interesting! The Buffet Restaurant also offers halal steamboat buffet too.
Diners can start off with cold salad and appertizers like Smashed Asian Cucumber Salad, Wood Ear Mushroom Salad, Poached Chicken or Wanton tossed in hot and sour vinegar and chilli oil.
Dim Sum varieties include Shrimp Dumplings, freshly steamed little baskets of Chicken Char Siew Pau, Shanghai Dumpling, Charcoal Golden Sand Pau, Lotus Bunny Bun, Chicken Siew Mai, Traditional-baked Chicken Char Siew Puff and more.
Look out or the live station for Chef’s Singapore Laksa right next to the Roast Chicken stall. We enjoyed it and even had second servings. If you are a fan of roast chicken, you can have it on your own. The roast chicken and chicken rice are served separately.
There are also options for hot and sour soup and chicken porridge that comes with side condiments. Diners can DIY their own porridge with their choice of condiments like salted egg, braised peanut, pickles lettuce, you tiao, spring onion, fried shallot, sesame oil and soya sauce.
Others include Prawn Paste Chicken Wing, Cantonese-style Chicken Feet, Fu Fei Prawn Roll, chef’s signatures Fried Carrot cake with sambal, Chicken Luncheon Meat Fried Rice, and Mamak-style Mee Goreng.
Lastly, for dessert station, try the D24 Durian Mochi served in small ball bites along with Ondeh Ondeh cakes, Pandan Kueh Lapis, Custard Egg Tart and assorted tropical fruits. Not to miss their chilled Cheng Tng which is a good choice to end a sweet note for the meal.
It was full house on Sunday and most of the diners came with family members. The service crews were walking around tables to ensure that the plates are cleared while chefs also consistently checking on the spread to ensure that there are food on the stations. Overall was pretty good and of course there are hit and misses but for the this price, I think it is quite a good price for the buffet spread.
