Akira Back is a modern Japanese cuisine restaurant featuring reinvented flavours, Korean accents, and global influences by world-renowned chef Akira Back. The restaurant is part of the dining concepts managed by JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. It is conveniently located within walking distance of Esplanade MRT station and access to the hotel as well.

Akira Back launches two lunch sets- One-derful Set Lunch (3-course) S$62.00++ per person and Two Good To Share (5-course) for S$148.00++ for two persons. We tried the One-derful Set lunch and here are the dishes we tried:
Starter

Lunch started with King Crab Chawanmushi. Unlike the usual chawanmushi, this is served with kabocha soup. It is like having “chawanmushi soup” packed with savoury and umami flavour along with the king crab meat and ikura.

Mains
For mains, diners can choose one out of the three (3) dishes.
Line Caught Pacific Halibut

Fish lovers can try the velverty texture of Line Caught Pacific Halibut that pairs well with beurre blanc sauce. Creamy sauce with taste of tangy and richness of the butter that gives a tasty mouthfeel.

Beef Cheek

Fork tender slow cooked Beef Cheeks with Bordelaise sauce and potato puree. The sauce gives an amazing umami flavour to the dish. My choice of main to go for my source of protein.

Sashimi Don with additional S$20.00++
Another main to consider is the beautifully plated Sashimi Don that comes in assorted sashimi and pickled radish.

Dessert

Lastly, Strawberry Shiratama with Peach Sorbet to end with a sweet note. Refreshing light, sweet and sourness note and spring like colours combination in presentation.

Overall lunch set portion is quite generous. We were so full towards the end. People with big appetites will enjoy this set lunch. The best part is the set is available from Monday to Sundays including Public Holidays. The usual lunch set promotion is only valid from Monday to Fridays, which many of us are unable to get a chance to try it. Diners can have the taste of it on weekends too. Diners can elevate your dining experience with their Bottomless Boozy Weekend of flowing beverages showcasing a collection of spirits, alcoholic and non-alcoholic options at S$40.00++ per person.
