Hyatt Place Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru is the latest hotel in Johor Bahru town. Hyatt Place by American hotel chain caters mainly to the upscale business and leisure travellers. The hotel is located adjacent to Paradigm Mall and approximately 5km from the city centre. A total of 202 guestrooms, which combine elegant contemporary design in calming pastel shades with a graceful local touch.

How To Get There
By Car

If you are driving, the hotel is approximately 30 minutes’ drive from Woodlands Checkpoint and a 15 minutes’ drive from Senai Airport and Second link (Tuas Checkpoint).
The hotel shares a parking space with the shopping center. Thus, the hotel guests will have to pay MYR 6nett per entry.

Note: Do self-park your car on the 6th floor with access directly to the hotel lift.

By Bus
You also can opt for bus services (myBAS 30, 31 or 32) from JB Sentral and alight at the bus stop opposite Paradigm Mall. The bus ride takes about 20 mins journey.

The Room



Our journey began by parking on Level 6 and taking a lift to Level 7 for check-in. The lobby, complete with a co-working space, exuded spaciousness. The check-in process was swift, leading us to our 27 sqm room overlooking the pool. The room features a plush king-size Hyatt Grand Bed and boasts a Cozy Corner with a sofa-sleeper, a 55-inch HDTV, and a generous work desk. The bed was exceptionally cozy, though the pillows erred on the softer side.

Entertainment options included cable TV and Malaysia channels, with the added convenience of casting mobile apps onto the TV. Hotel guests can watch Youtube and Netflix from the TV. While the TV operated through WIFI, you might experience some lagging. The remote control, despite its stylish appearance, showed occasional lag and unresponsiveness.

Standard amenities are provided in the room and bathroom. The bathroom comes with a bidet too. Should you require more, you have to call the housekeeping or go down to the hotel reception to get it personally.

Apart from the usual coffee and drinking water, the hotel also offers TWG Tea which is quite a plus point as compared to other hotels in Johor Bahru.




Facilities

The outdoor pool with jacuzzi is located on the same floor as the hotel lobby and gym. It is available from 8am till 8pm daily.

As for the gym, hotel guests can access to their fully equipped 24-hour gym from high tech cardio to strength training facilities. The equipment is brand new and only hotel guests who have access to a hotel key card would be able to utilize it.

Cigar Lounge is available for hotel guests as well.

Dining Options



Hyatt Place also offers breakfast at One Seven Bistro. My stay includes hotel breakfast but if you booked your room without breakfast, you can still add-ons with RM50 ~S$14.37 per person. The buffet breakfast catered to diverse tastes, featuring local (Malay, Chinese, and Indian) and Western spreads. I would say the breakfast spread is scrumptious with good range of varieties.

On Seven Bistro also offers Italian dining experience with an authentic taste of Homemade Italian Pasta during the lunch and dinner. Expect to savor fresh homemade pastas as well as classic Italian appetizers and desserts.
There is also a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and Italian coffee to complete the dining experience.

We tried their pasta, and it was tasty especially the Spaghetti Aglio Olio E Pepperproncino and Tagliolini Al Nero. Recommend ordering the Fritto Misto, a mixture of deep-fried seafood served with roasted garlic mayonnaise dipping sauce before the mains.

Alternatively, you can opt to dine out or the restaurants at the shopping mall. There are many JB food options around the hotel.

Overall weekend stays at Hyatt Place is pleasant with attentive and friendly service crew. The housekeeping is done daily if you stay more than one night. The housekeeping staff did a good job in keeping our bed and amenities in check. We find our bed is tidied up upon returning from exploring the city.
