[PENANG EATS] Deen Maju George Town – One of Local’s Favourite Nasi Kandar

My dad was craving for Nasi Kandar during our recent trip to Penang and I start to google for more nasi kandar options. I even ask the GRAB driver his favourite nasi kandar place and he said Deen Maju. He shared that locals will patronize Deen Maju instead of Line Clear Nasi Kandar because the pricing and taste.

So my sisters and I decided to grab over from our hotel (E&O Hotel Penang) to Deen Maju to pack for our dinner. Our 2 way transport fare was RM13 ~S$4.41.

We reached Deen Maju around 5.30pm and the queue was already formed. We joined the queue and waited patiently for our turn. Most of the customers in queue are local Muslims and few of them are Chinese. The queue was moving pretty fast as we only waited for approximately 15-20minutes to order our food.

There are many dishes to choose from as compared to Line Clear Nasi Kandar. We were quite spoilt with choices. There are beef, chicken, squid, fish and many more cooked in different type of curry sauces. We ordered the fried chicken, curry chicken, potatoes and fish with white rice. Then the service staff poured various types of curry gravies and sauces before wrapping it up for us.

We were given a note with the priced stated to pay at the cashier counter.

Pardon the messy look of the nasi kandar but trust me! It tasted tasty. The fried chicken was well-seasoned with spices and the curry flavours goes very well with the steamed rice. Rice flavour of the spices and of course the secret mixing curry sauces to make the whole thing tasted umami.

Our total bill was RM27.00 ~S$9.15 for 3 packs. It is so much cheaper than Line Clear Nasi Kandar. My sisters and I loved the curry sauces here in Deen Maju but my dad preferred Line Clear Nasi Kandar. He shared that the spices and the curry sauces from Line Clear Nasi Kandar are much stronger in flavour and certainly packs a punch.

If you enjoy eating Nasi Kandar, check out this place or other Nasi Kandar places in Penang. Even the locals loved this place so I think it is worth trying it!
