Crystal Jade Palace located at Takashimaya Shopping Centre has re-opened its door with new look and an inspired menu conjured by Chef Martin Foo, Group Executive Chef of Crystal Jade group. The refreshed fine dining restaurant now boasts a sophisticated contemporary space that includes an intimate tea room, breezy communal dining hall, elegant courtyard and private dining rooms.Here are the photos of the interior restaurant from the media release.

As for the menu, Chef Martin Foo has redesign and exploring new ground of modern touches, while preserving the heritage of traditional Chinese cuisine. I attended the media tasting session and here are the highlights of the night:

Everyone’s favourite of the night that comprises a tasty combination of sweet chives stem, minced prawns and bits of Chinese ‘lap cheong’ between sheets of spring roll skin. You couldn’t stop at the first piece. Trust me!

Signature classic roasted duck is a must try dish when you dine in here. Crisp skin with succulent duck meat and the aroma of truffle oil makes a good combo.

Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Peruvian Ginseng and Sea Whelk S$26.00++

Braised Sea Cucumber with Grandma’s Braised Pork Belly S$36.00++
Crystal Jade Palace-Braised Sea Cucumber
Featuring braised Australian sea cucumber with slippery and tender texture infused with flavours of the ingredients and sauce. The braised pork belly tasted soft and tender. It literally melts in your mouth. This is best to go with a bowl of white rice.




Sauteed Beef Cube with Shishito Peppers in Black Pepper Sauce S$36.00++

Make sure you eat it with a bowl of white rice. Chef uses premium beef short-rib cubes with mildly-spicy Shishito peppers, which are first dry-roasted in a wok.

Fried Crispy Rice and Orzo Pasta with Prawn & Shrimp S$26.00++

Al-dente grains of orzo pasta tossed over high heat with prawns, char siew and petite cubes of red and green capsicums, with a final sprinkling of crispy sakura ebi and deep-fried rice grains for textural contrast. Shiok!

Chendol with Coconut Ice-Cream S$12.80++

Our dinner ended with this delicious modern twist dessert, Chendol with Coconut Ice-cream and grass jelly cubes.
