[SG EATS] SONS At China Square Central – Menu by Michelin Star Chef, Beppe De Vito
SONS situated at China Square Central is a modern Italian trattoria-style bar and restaurant. The restaurant offers bar food, beers and drinks with a range of mains since 2014. It is my first visit here to check out their new menu curated by Michelin Star Chef, Beppe De Vito.
Homemade Salami Platter S$22.00++
First up we have the in-house salami platter that consists of 4 types of Salumi using the Italian curing method. This includes Guanciale, Smoked Kurobuta Pork Lonza, Capocollo and Pancetta.
Baccala Cakes S$18.00++
Baccala cakes served with sea urchin sabayon and this was one of my favourite dish here. It is also the signature dish where the fritters are made from premium salted cod and mashed potato with squid ink breadcrumbs. Love the thin crispy crust and the combination with sea urchin gives a nice touch to the dish.
Cured Salmon Tartare, Avocado & Wholewheat Crostini S$15.00++
This is a refreshing starter with my favourite ingredients like salmon and avocado in it. Perfect combo anytime!
Mushroom & Truffle Bruschetta S$15.00++
Mushroom lovers can opt for these 2 slices of house-made bread grilled spread with truffle paste, layered with melted smoked scamorza and topped with sautéed shimeji mushrooms and fresh shaved truffles and micro herbs.
3-Meat Sausage, Broccoletti & Mustard Sauce S$29.00++
This dish served with house made sausage packed with pork, beef and lamb seasoned with herbs and pepper. And of course check out the freshly grated parmesan cheese all over the dish. It is not your usual sausage serving.
Duck Leg Confit S$26.00++
This is a crowd pleaser dish featuring duck leg confit with cannellini and cherry tomatoes. It is a generous portion of duck meat with tender meat and crispy outer layer.
Kale & Nduja Ravioli S$22.00++
Kale & nduja ravioli served with capers and garlic butter is a housemade pasta. It is a creamy pasta packed with flavours and filling too. And I enjoyed having it with the crispy kale.
Squid-ink Tagliollini, Wild Cuttlefish & Orange Salmoriglio S$24.00++
Tagliolini is a traditional recipe in Italy and it is prepared with squid ink and fresh wild cuttlefish. We enjoyed the al-dente pasta texture and sweet and chewy texture from the wild cuttlefish that tossed in a briny seafood sauce.
Dolce Tiramisu with Chocolate Chips S$12.00++
Next, we have the tiramisu with chocolate chips. It is a must-have dessert in Italian restaurant and it tasted light and satisfying!
Hot Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Gelato S$13.00++
Mango & Calamansi Cheesecake S$12.00++
This is one of the signature desserts here but I am not quite a fan of this. This is subject to individual preference.
Overall SONS is a nice place to chill out after work and it is strategically located at Chinatown area. It is a casual dining experience where you can just chill and drink with your friends.
